Does being Apostolic make you better?
Duh! Ya don't get to be holy like me by just belonging to any ole church.

I consider the first statement a great compliment, but I'm afraid I will always take a back seat to DAII's ability to tweak people. And second of all, I definitely AM more apostolic than all of you. How did you know?

1) You think this sounds arrogant:

See post above, if you are not Apostolic you are not saved.
If you ARE saved why would you be in one of those denominations?
|
But notice what he states first:
2) What did he say in his post that he wrote before this one? This is it in the quote box below:
Quote:
Apostolic- following the Apostles' doctrine.
If you are not Apostolic you are not saved.
Does that make you "better"?
No, just means you won't burn in hell like you deserve.
|
3) We have already parsed this post out. ( http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...7&postcount=94 ) Basically all he is saying is if you are not believing and obeying what the apostles taught, then you are not saved. And being saved doesn't make you "better". Being saved keeps you from burning in hell.
4) So in followup to his first post, he wrote:
Quote:
"if you are not Apostolic you are not saved.

Let's parse this out:
Quote:

|
(I really want to put a comma between the words, "Apostolic" and "you" but I'll contain the grammar nazi within me.) I think we can all agree by now that this statement speaks for itself and is not contrary to truth. It's a statement of fact and unless you know the intents of his heart, then it is impossible to ascertain if he is stating this with arrogance or in a simple declarative fashion like, "the sky is blue."
Lastly he wrote:
Quote:
If you ARE saved why would you be in one of those denominations?"

Let's give this poster Christian benevolence and assume the very best of him...
Let's assume he is simply stating a fact. It follows that if someone is not saved then they will in no way belong to any Christian denomination. They might belong to the Elk's club, the YMCA, or PETA, but probably not to a Christian denomination.
I failed to find any arrogance again. Perhaps you could accuse him of being too logical?

Oh come on, Mizpeh, cut the hooey. Do you agree with this statement or not:
"If you are not Apostolic you are not saved. Does that make you "better"? No, just means you won't burn in hell like you deserve."
Give me a one word answer....yes, or no.

If being apostolic is following the teachings of the apostles, then, YES.

That was the part of the quote from post #4 that was conveniently left off.
