I see that Zachary is supporting KBH in the primary. Why her and not Perry?

They have opened up the railroads here again, which has been a big pain, so I don't know where we are on it. I tried to find a clip someone sent me on Facebook where Perry was saying they have moved on. Not his exact words, but I can't remember them enough to quote him. I'll keep looking for it. On many things, when the people talk, Perry does listen.

I need to find that clip before I decide my opinion.

AND FERD - LOL - I have to run, but we have a few more years of Obama and I want an experienced Governor who is on our side, for the most part, as a Conservative, loyal to my state and knowing many of the men and women serving as Governors and in other offices of this country. I'm not in favor of a new kid on the block during the Obama Administration. That's just my thought on that.

I would think that the Confederate flag and secession go hand in hand.
WOW.

Makes me glad I don't live in Texas!

I don't understand it, but I think it's a big mess.

I have one question. You've said many times that you think Ron Paul was a nut or something to that effect. What do you think about Debra Medina being Ron Paul's Field Director in 2008. She also has huge support from Ron Paul supporters. Are you okay with that?

Okay, the debate is coming up in 10 minutes. We'll see how it goes. Love Perry, but I'm expecting him to act like a child a little bit. LOL!

Good debate. We understood, in our area, that the TCC was dead. Perry said it's dead.

Voting for Rick Perry. Medina didn't change my mind.

Have to watch it later. Hubby doesn't like to watch politics.

Re: PO, Ferd and other Texans

Ferd,
I have a question for you on Medina wanting to abolish the Property Taxes in Texas. She is speaking of a consumption tax, which I am thinking she is getting that from the Fair Tax plan.

She is saying that if the current sales tax base is used, then the
sales tax rate would need to be around 14.5 percent in order for the
property tax repeal to be statically revenue neutral.

Here are some of the Texas statistics she cites in the pdf file (40 pages). I am wondering with these statistics and running on a platform of abolishing Property Tax, is this plan workable or could it even be a possible consideration?

Quote:
Texas has one of the lowest overall tax burdens in the
country measured as total tax revenues as a share of personal
income. Consistently, the states with the lowest tax burdens
experience faster economic growth, greater employment growth,
and lower unemployment rates than the states with the highest
tax burdens. Texas also does not impose an income tax. States
that do not impose an income tax experience faster economic
growth, greater employment growth, and lower unemployment
rates than states with the highest top marginal income tax rate.
Based on these measures, Texas is in an enviable position.

States tend to be large or fast growing, but not both.
Texas is an exception. Although Texas is the 2nd largest state
economy, over the past 10 years its economic growth rate has
significantly out-performed the nation. On average, the Texas
economy became 6.8 percent larger every year between 1998
and 2007, which was the 6th fastest growth rate compared to all
50 states and Washington D.C. Texas has also edged out New
York to become the state with the most Fortune 500 corporate
headquarters (58).1

The Texas economy has weathered the current economic
meltdown better than the average state. As of February 2009, the
unemployment rate in Texas was 6.5 percent, significantly below
the 8.1 percent rate for the nation as a whole.2

Well... there could never be a confederacy without secession right?

It's just common sense.

You don't create another nation without ceasing to be a part of another.
