Re: Do you believe the innocent party in a situati
I know the Message is questionable, but this is how I see the scripture unfolding:
1 Corinthians 7:5 (The Message)
2-6Certainly—but only within a certain context. It's good for a man to have a wife, and for a woman to have a husband. Sexual drives are strong, but marriage is strong enough to contain them and provide for a balanced and fulfilling sexual life in a world of sexual disorder. The marriage bed must be a place of mutuality—the husband seeking to satisfy his wife, the wife seeking to satisfy her husband. Marriage is not a place to "stand up for your rights." Marriage is a decision to serve the other, whether in bed or out. Abstaining from sex is permissible for a period of time if you both agree to it, and if it's for the purposes of prayer and fasting—but only for such times. Then come back together again. Satan has an ingenious way of tempting us when we least expect it. I'm not, understand, commanding these periods of abstinence—only providing my best counsel if you should choose them.

I don't think it has a thing to do with being humble, or being hurt. It has to do with disease. It has to do with him keeping his part of the marriage covenant.
My choice would probably have been to separate from him if he didn't stop the adultery.

That's a difficult one.
He should at least be wearing a raincoat.
If she doesn't believe in divorce, then she is doing her part to try to keep up her end of the bargin. He's failing, but maybe there's hope if he gets some help.

Good advice!!! Marriage "should" be strong enough to contain them. He does say that Satan has an ingenious way of tempting us when we least expect it. And, yes, the marriage bed is NOT the place to stand up for your rights.
So, does that mean in EVERY situation do we NOT defraud? Every single one?

Well, I think that goes back to "intent" - if you are sick, you aren't defrauding even though he might think so, but he'll get over it.
If you are withholding to punish him or make a stand, then yes - every single one.
Again, I don't think he's talking about it being a sin to defraud - he's just given some good ole marriage counseling advice!

So, then what do we do with the scripture - Matthew 6:14 "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:"
If you don't forgive him, will God forgive you?

Re: Do you believe the innocent party in a situati
I understand it has become customary for churches to say the "innocent party" may remarry.
But what about the guilty party?
In practice, churches (and their leaders) generally are happy to allow couples to marry as often as wish, be they innocent, guilty or otherwise designated.
Seems the important thing is whether they are attending church and paying tithes... [sic]

I think being sick is understandable. So you believe in every single situation and issue the marriage is going through, there is no excuse given for defrauding each other sexually?

Looks like that's what the scripture is saying - - except for mutual agreement for a period to pray and fast.
When would you not if there wasn't an "intent" for what you were doing?
