Re: We Broke 1,000 Sunday!

When I first saw the thread title I wondered what you could have possibly broken a thousand of! Dishes?, mirrors? windows?

Glad it was people in church!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Maybe this is the reason why, Sherri.

Congratulations, you are in the kingdom for such a time as this. Ride the wave.

Some good stuff is happening with us as well.

Lord willing we will hit 130 in Church on Easter Sunday, finished putting a brand new roof on the building. Will baptize our 27th person in less than a year, took up a $4200 offering last Sunday, opened a new house for recovery, and leaving for India in May 2009. I am tired trying to keep up with the wave God has brought us.

It's www.loveandtruthchurch.com. There are several churches on it, but we are the Jackson, TN one.

Beware: NOT UPC.
