I agree on all your points. I just think the Republicans could have gotten more out of it if they held firm on their points. Obama's ego was/is riding on this stimulus bill. So they (Dem's) wouldn't have given up if they had held firm. Look at California. One Republican blocked the Dem's, and he was told to bring his tootbrush. If it's a fight they'd want, I wouldn't have stopped there. I woulda brought my toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving kit, soap and the entire bathroom set and stood firm on saying NO.

Thomas, if Obama keeps going down the road he is on, our side has a really good chance of making serious hay in 2 years!

at least that is my hope. The bad news for us is the more we win, the better the economy and everyone knows that presidents get all the blame/praise for the economy even if it is undeserved.

I'm not talking about stories by Art Bell over the Chupikabra. But seriously, you have the Drudge Report. Then there's conspiracy theories about oil companies buying the rights to some engine that supposedly gets 200 miles to the gallon. Everyone's looking for the next Erin Brokovitch to tell about something like PG&E.
Allegations don't go very far. You need proof. Kinda like when I took on the college President over his selection of the Senior Speaker for Graduation, when it's the graduating class that selects it. I was then called a liar by the college President during his next speech to the students.

We already have that chance to lay the groundwork for the next election. we just have to choose leaders who aren't cowards, like John McCain was, in attacking Obama during the last election. If only someone with the boldness of an Ann Coulter could get elected. But she'd have to take a pay cut.
