Well, now I know the basis of who Powell is. Thank you! Now, I get it.

Go listen to CNN - they are questioning the motives too.

Yep, this pretty well wrapped it up.

Powell was a Trojan Horse from the very beginning. Colin Powell was never a conservative... and the Republican party should not have allowed him to increase his national influence using their party they way that he did.

Now it's coming back to bite them.

Re: Colin Powell will be on Meet the Press Sunday

Rush Limbaugh asked an interesting question:
"Where are the inexperienced white liberals Powell has endorsed"?

Rush Limbaugh said Colin Powell's decision to get behind Barack Obama appeared to be very much tied to Obama's status as the first African-American with a chance to become president.

"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

As for Powell's statement of concern this morning about the sort of Supreme Court justices a President McCain might appoint, Limbaugh wrote: "I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [general] and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."

Re: Colin Powell will be on Meet the Press Sunday

I finally got to watch the entire interview and I thought Colin Powell laid out his opinions very well. There was no sense of "gotcha" or sticking it to John McCain. I think it was obvious that Powell was reluctant to disappoint McCain.

He, like a lot of other conservatives, obviously believes that the John McCain of old isn't the John McCain of 2008.

I have one thought on this. If Powell's support for Obama was predicated on principle alone, He would have endorsed Obama back in July when Obama was courting him. Instead he waits until the media has anointed Obama as the certain winner.

Which begs a question? If Powell's support for Obama is nothing more than unalloyed admiration and as some on the left claim that Powell was "duped" by Bush into supporting the war in Iraq, what's to prevent him from being "duped" again by Obama?

Which all the more reason for him to NOT tarnish his reputation by endorsing any one candidate.

If he does endorse Sen. Obama and Sen. Obama does win, you can expect to see Gen. Colin Powell again in a place of influence and power, but this time in a Democrat Administration.

Which would not shock me-- Sen. Obama has been painted as this far left guy, but in reality, he's not that far left of a guy.
How expedient for Colin to represent himself as a republican, it has served his career quite well.

The kicker for me was when he said one of the reasons for voting for Obama is because he could not support the appoint of more Roberts and Alito type appointments to the Supreme Court. Inspite of the fact that both were approved by the Senate. I suspect he has been a closet Demo all the time.

Re: Colin Powell will be on Meet the Press Sunday

This man just used the Republican Party to advance his career. I always knew he was never a true conservative or Republican at heart.

But his "endorsement" at this late stage comes across as opportunistic and self-serving. It's not as important now as it would have been if he had endorsed him during the Democratic primaries, or even this past summer. This guy is yesterdays's news anyway.

NEXT.
