Re: Nicky Cruz at Our church
Nicky Cruz is 70???
I remember reading his book in the early eighties & it was referring to years previously.
Quite a testimony for sure.

Now please do not think I have downplayed Acts 2:38...
I have given my whole life preaching Acts 2:38 so it is important. However I want to be careful with my words for they have a way of coming home.

Amen. Give honour to whom honour is due.

Re: Nicky Cruz at Our church
I bought the book "Run Baby Run" Sunday. I had it when I was a teenager, but I have no idea where I put it and it's probably been reprinted 20 times since that one!! I also bought the DVD of The Cross and the Switchblade, since I haven't seen it for decades either! They are coming out with a Hollywood movie called "Run, Nicky, Run" in the fall - supposed to be really good!
He told about his childhood and I was just weeping. I had forgotten how bad it really was. His Puerto Rican accent is still REALLY strong - I told J.C. that he doesn't even seem to have any accent compared to Nicky Cruz.

An elder in a church where I used to go advised us to taste our words before we spoke them because some times we have to eat our words later.

I really liked both books, "The Cross and the Switchblade" and "Run Baby Run." Both really showed what changes God can make to any individual who surrenders to Him. I've also seen the movie of "The Cross and the Switchblade." We often get so involved with being "right," meticulously dotting every "i" and crossing every "t" and judging by criteria that are really unimportant, that we cannot recognize God at work in someone who does not see eye to eye with us.

There are millions of street children in Brazil...May God raise up men and women to work the alleys of our world...
