Sex Education for Kindergärtners- True or False?

I hate taxes as much as anyone but I also realize that when we spend $760 BILLION dollars in Iraq, it's time to pay the piper. I didn't support the spending of the Bush administration, but I'm not naive enough to not expect to have to pay for his misguidedness. That's sort of how things work. If you spend money on wars, defense, and tax cuts to the top 5%, then someone has to pay the tab, right? Well that or borrow money from the Chinese.

Sorry, but I'm all out of pity on rich people helping pay the bill, while the true patriots, the men and women in harms way are fighting this country's misguided war.
The sex education thing is not false. Let me find my info and I'll post it.

I'm working on a project, so I'm hit and miss today.

SB99: Course material and instruction shall discuss and provide
for the development of positive communication skills to maintain healthy relationships and avoid unwanted sexual activity. ... Course material and instruction shall teach pupils ... how to say no to unwanted sexual advances ... and shall include information about verbal, physical, and visual sexual harassment, including without limitation nonconsensual sexual advances, nonconsensual physical sexual contact, and rape by an acquaintance. The course material and instruction shall contain methods of preventing sexual assault by an acquaintance, including exercising good judgment and avoiding behavior that impairs one's judgment.

Allen Keyes was the first to attack BO with this in Oct. of 2004. Obama responded with:

Obama: We have a existing law that mandates sex education in the schools. We want to make sure that it's medically accurate and age-appropriate. Now, I'll give you an example, because I have a six-year-old daughter and a three-year-old daughter, and one of the things my wife and I talked to our daughter about is the possibility of somebody touching them inappropriately, and what that might mean. And that was included specifically in the law, so that kindergarteners are able to exercise some possible protection against abuse, because I have family members as well as friends who suffered abuse at that age. So, that's the kind of stuff that I was talking about in that piece of legislation.

I'm so glad, as a parent, that I still have the right to teach my children about sex in the way I see fit, according to their maturity level, and understanding. I do NOT want the public school system, e.g., the state, deciding when my child should learn about sex, including inappropriate touch and/or sexual abuse, and how and what they should know about it. That is MY job.

What does that last line mean? "...avoiding behavior that impairs one's judgment"? (To a kindergartner)

We have already been teaching our children about sex, and what is appropriate and inappropriate in regard to touch, since they were very young. I don't need or want the state to do that for me. Who better than their parents to decide what is "age-appropriate" and when they are mature enough to understand what is being presented? Certainly not the state, which wishes to broad-brush all children, rather than recognizing the maturity or immaturity of individual children and teaching them accordingly.

I absolutely agree with you on this. I have no interest in the state teaching my child about sex. My wife and I can handle that responsibility just fine without the state education system's help.

According to factcheck.org, parents have a "no questions asked opt out policy" in Illinois where state law mandates that sexual education be addressed in the public school. I would have opted out and voted out the state legislators decided to mandate it.

Here's a link concerning the sex education bruhawhaw from factcheck.org. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2...on_sex_ed.html

"Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K, six through 12; shall include instructions on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections including the prevention, transmission, and spread of HIV. Nothing in this section prohibits instruction in sanitation, hygiene, or traditional courses in biology."

That we can agree on PO.

We've sorta drifted from the original economy subject.
