Obama vs Reagan compared. Two short videos.

In my mind, Reagan was a great American president, which Obama simply can never be... for a number of reasons.

One key reason is Obama's thinking regarding national defense and security. The man's positions are downright scary to me.

Just look at these two commercials by Obama (2008) and Ronald Reagan (1984), which deal with national defense. The difference between the two men is striking -- like night and day.

When he talks about unproven missile defense systems... does he mean the ones we're installing in Poland right now?

I can't remember what it's called, but I am pretty sure he is talking about that system that has failed several times during its testing phases. Maybe someone will know its name. It's right on the tip of my tongue, but I can't remember what it's called.

Also, I am not so sure it's fair to compare these two ads. During Reagan's campaign, we were at the height of the Cold War and fears about Russia were pretty high. There was a reason for the military buildup during the Reagan years. Now, I do believe that we need to do more to replenish all the supplies and equipment we have used during this Iraqi war, but we dont' need any more nuclear weapons and I agree that we need to take our missile systems off high alert, assuming Russia does the same.

Stratetig Defense Initiative! That's it! Thanks. Yeah, Russia certainly seems to be up to its old tricks again. That's why I said it would be a good idea to take our missile systems off high alert, assuming the Russians do the same. Fat chance of that happening though. We'll see if they pull completely out of Georgia by Friday or not. So far it doesn't look like they are interested in keeping their word.
