Where we are now, in terms of oil prices, has been coming for a long time, and neither party showed any leadership on energy policy for the last 25-30 years. Rico, this is not correct. Back when the republicans controlled the the house and senate when Clinton was president they pass legislation to open up ANWR for drilling. Clinton vetoed that bill. They did not have enough majority to override the veto.
They have since not had enough majority to pass bills that would open up drilling.
If ANWR would have been opened and drilling started there would be enough oil on the market today to have kept prices down.
The democrats have been in the back pockets of the enviromentalist for years.

Drilling is not going to solve the problem we are currently in, VB. It's just a temporary fix. We should have been working to develop alternate sources of energy. The only thing drilling for more oil will help with is our dependance on foreign oil, which is a big issue too, but not the real issue we need to deal with. Have you heard about this Perkins fella?

No, but I have heard of T. Boone Pickins.
There is more oil in the us trhen in the middle east. We just dont drill it. The fact is, China and india, in their growth has created a lot more demand for oil.
if we would have been drilling our own oil there would be plenty of oil on the market which would keep prices down. That is simple economics.
Another fact, until someone creates new sources of ebergy that can take the place of oil that is what we are stuck with. Therefore you use it if you have it.
The reason the prices are were they are is becuase there is not enough supply to meet the demand. The way to fix that is to put more oil on the market. The way to do that is to drill. The reason we have not drilled is because of democrats, so their to blame. That is fact supported by history.

The supply issue isn't from the oil side. The supply issue is one of refineries. We haven't built any new refineries in this country in 30 years. That, I believe, is the fault of the environmentalists. One refinery can go down and the price of gasoline shoots right up. It shouldn't be that way. We are running at full capacity and need to add to our ability to refine the oil into gasoline. More drilling certainly wouldn't hurt, but it would only solve part of the problem and still be a temporary fix.
This Pickins fella is proposing that we make a major shift towards wind generated electricity. I believe his website is www.pickinsplan.com I got his name mixed up.

Re: Another Reason not to Vot for Barack Hussein O
Rico and some of the members of AFF has succeded in changing my mind about voting Republican and the following is Why I'm Voting Democrat
I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.
I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe three or four pointy headed elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don't have to hide from us over there, when they come over here I don't want to have any guns in the house to fight them off with.
I'm voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my horse.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.
Makes ya wonder how anyone would EVER vote Republican, now doesn't it?

Christian Universalism is not anything near Unitarianism, my dear friend Rico. Unitarians are not Christians.

Every time I see anything that begins with "Uni" I think of you.
