Even the hard-hitting ads by the Vietnam Vets against John Kerry were not officially endorsed by the party. They were opinions by real participants in the war, under their own funding. Not a deceitful montage of political rhetoric and clips.
This is a distinct and unique strategy of negative ads using heavily charged rhetoric by the McCain campaign that I can't remember seeing in any of the last 3 Republican Presidents.
To hear some now take the win at all costs approach is ODD an unfamiliar.
Tell me then sir, if you are running against someone who is running on personality, how then do you deal with this issue, without dealing with this issue?
Baraks number one issue is cult of personality. McCain HAS to directly challenge that notion. that is not underhanded at all.

Okay, just know that that doesn't really read well to me and probably for few people. If you disect it, it has the potential of saying a lot of things that I'm not sure that your trying to say.

I don't think he cares much for the black community. Is that gentle enough?

Ferd, the biggest issue in Obama's campaign is a consistent message. I know that for many people this notion seems pretty frivolous and "pie-in-the-sky", but evidently for many people hope and change are two pretty good selling points.

my brother "a consistant message" isnt a campaign issue. about the only thing we get is the word "change"
people for him are for "change" they dont care what it is, they just dont like what we got.
They say Barak has "change" what every that is. THIS is cult of personality at it's finest, it IS the number one issue for Barak Obama and it IS all about HIM. (I repeat "this is the day the oceans stopped rising" Obama on Obama winning the dem nomination)
Even you, an Obama supporter, have provided us with clear proof that Obama's number one issue, isnt an issue at all. Consistant message? I CANT EAT A CONSISTANT MESSAGE.

Berk, it's not an issue of being gentle or "PC", what you said just did not make much sense to me.
What would make you say he thinks he is white? He married a full black woman. Most people who think they are white do not do that. He attended a definitively Black church. Most people who think they are white do not do that. He has been involved in efforts within the Black community practically his whole life. Most people who think they are black do not do that. His social circle does not reflect that he thinks he is white. His personal statements do not reflect that he thinks he is white. So what are you left with?...The fact that he thinks he can be President? The fact that he is educated? (that is not a rhetorical question, I would really like to know why you think he thins he is white).
I'm not even going to ask about him "preying on those who know they are black". I'm not sure I even want to know what that means.

Ferd, I have said probably 20 times in these forums that I am not an Obama supporter.
As to the other points. Whenever Presidential candidates in the past did come along at a time when the masses were sick of an unpopular President or a war that they did not agree with, change was a very effective message. Don't think for a minute that Democratic strategists did not borrow from the JFK book of politics and emotion.

Ahh but change TO what? Ronald Rayguns surely ran on change. but we all knew what that change was to.
As for JFK, Im not really sure what you are talking about. the Korean war had long been over. Eisenhower got us out of that. and he was a popular president. so I am not so sure I get what your saying?
Obama's version of change is at best unclear.
