What is the difference morally between killing an unborn baby and killing a 1 month old?
The sovereignty of the mother's body. For the Government to force her to give birth is to essentially seize her body and force her to breed by law. While abortion isn't always the right thing to do...empowering Government to police what a woman does with her body will open the door to other Government intrusions. For example....if they can force a woman to give birth by force of Law....they can force her to microchip that child.
At this point we cannot ban abortion because of the SC decision in Roe, we have done all kinds of things to restrict them. Waiting periods, setting limits on how late an abortion can be performed, banning partial birth abortion, parental notification laws, etc.
I have sat in the office of several of the U.S. Congressman that would ban it tomorrow if they could, and believe me none of them were Democrats.
That's fine and dandy. Once banned how does the Government police it and penalize both the women and the doctors who procure/perform abortion?
What? check the reply skippy. i did not report you. I have reported no one for calling me a liar. yet you did in fact call me a liar.
which is quite fine with me, as your inablitiy to reconize your own inconsistancy is your issue not mine.
but in point of fact, i accused you of "supporting abortion" those were my EXACT words. you said i was a liar.
and no, I didnt report you. if you would like, I will. just say the word, i will hunt down the post and report you.
just let me know...
I don't support abortion. I just think my wife and I (and your wife and you) are more qualified to choose as to if an abortion is necessary than Washington. You seem to trust Washington over you and your wife and me and my wife.

Baron, I had to come back and say one more thing:
I personally find it hard to believe that the entire government is powerless to do anything significant about abortion...but let's say that I do accept that assertion. Then how much sense does it make to have what a politician says about abortion such a deciding factor in an election to the exclusion of so many other things.

The mother, becoming pregnant, has to relinquish some of her rights. This child is still created by God in his image.

Let's go with a real scenero. Let's say your wife is pregnant and the doctors discover cancerous growth in your uterus. They say that the odds are good that she'll naturally miscarry. However, if she chooses to continue carrying the child until she miscarries she runs the risk of the cancer being too advanced to properly treat it. Out of the four doctors on staff in the consultation room two say that they advise she abort. Two say that there's a chance the cancer will remain localized and be treatable if she carries the child until it miscarries or is born. Also, the chances are good that if the child is born and survives, it will be severely deformed and mentally handicapped because the growth is eating up nutrients the child needs.
Your wife's life is at stake according to two doctors the other two argue that there's a good chance that the cancer will remain localized and be treatable after the baby is born. They are divided. Do you want the choice to abort to belong to you and your wife....or do you want the Government drawing the line as to if it's necessary or not? Your wife's life is on the line. Who chooses....the two of you or the Government?
since we are tossing these things around.... that there represents about 5% of real abortions. lets go with a real scenario that represents the VAST MAJORITY of abortions.
woman has sex
woman gets knocked up
woman doesnt want a kid
woman gets an abortion.
that there is much more representative of the 6 million abortions taking place.
THIS IS MURDER.

So it's a better scenario to kill a baby than to let government have more authority?
