On another note, it seems the media that is on this junket (did I spell that right?) with Barak Obama is not too happy with him.
Terri Marrand (sp) really pressed him pretty hard when he said he would still oppose the surge even though all indications are that it has worked.
Kati Couric has also been pretty hard with her questions.
The highly respected Andrea Mitchell is chaffing at the way the media is being "handled"
its kind of nice to see them wake up a bit.
Ferd, I have seen him criticized in many outlets. I think that people kind of view media coverage through their own party-colored glasses. Conservative outlets will claim that they are the "fair, balanced, unbiased, and thruthful" outelt, while Liberal outlets will claim the same. Meanwhile the respective followers of these outlets will tend to agree.

well, for sure Hanity will say he is being honest (I agree) when he blasts Obama.... but that is subjective obviously.
but when the likes of Katy Couric takes Obama to task well, that just tickles me pink....
Please remember Sean Hanity has certainly taken McCain to task quite a few times.

Baron, but that is not the reason we went into Iraq. Sadly, if that was all the justification we needed we would have to make a Middle-Eastern World Tour...starting with Saudi Arabia and some of our other "allies".

Baron, that is the reason we went into Afghanistan and Somalia (and righfully so). We went into Iraq in search of WMDs.
We went into Iraq because our government took advantage of the fact that emotions were still running high in this country over 9/11. They saw it as a perfect opportunity to finally establish a permanent American military presence in the Middle East, and Saddam Hussein was an easy target. We have tons more evidence of Iran training and equipping Islamic terrorists than we ever had of any WMDs in Iraq. Instead of going after Iran, and its government that would be much tougher to topple, we picked Iraq. Lo and behold who is it that we end up fighting once we get into Iraq? You guessed it. Iranian trained and equipped terrorists. In my opinion, history will look back on this and the USA will be regarded as a cowardly nation for not going to source in its war on terror. How's that for a conspiracy theory?

Again that is the media hype, we had more than WMD for reasons we were going into Iraq.
I am not trying to be rude but our policy in these types of situations is to make an example in one country to encourage others to straiten up. Ask Momar Quadafi how well our policy works in this regard.

gentlemen, Saddam Hussain violated 12 seperate UN edicts that all said if he did so, he would suffer the consequinces. He violated the final one that the UN voted on that paved the way for invasion.
EVERYONE on the planet said Saddam has WMDs.
Saddam had used WMDs in the past. Saddam said he wanted the U.S. distroyed. We invaded for good reason.
regardless, we are there now. leaving there now means losing a war and allowing terrorists to gain strenght.
bottom line. McCain will fight to win and make America safe. Obama will lose and leave us vulnerable.

Baron, I do know about the other reasons (U.N. resolutions that were not kept, response to inspectors etc...). My main point was that we did not go there because of the Towers falling and planes in Pennsylvania, and for them to try to tie that in now to tap into our emotions would be disengenous and revisionist.
