I have heard Bro. Scott preach several times. He preached the night services at Texas camp all 4 nights. I was excited to hear that he was coming so I went to the 2 services I could make. Teusday night (night 1) of camp was great, they had 45 minutes of music/preliminary and they got straight to the preaching. It was a great message about how God is so awesome and we forget sometimes. (of course is was better than what I just made it sound like, but the fact remains, it gave glory to God.).
Then Thursday night I got off work, had some stuff to do and got there late hoping I hadn't missed the preaching. Infact I didn't, I got there just in time for the 25 minute offering of "who'll give a 1,000 dollars? thanks Bro. so and so" "now who'll give 500 dollars" on and on , 25 minutes is not an exaggeration. Then the Choir sang some songs, a little "jukey" and hypish (2 word I made up!) but I was able to praise God without being to distracted.
Finally the preaching, yay, I was excited. Someone comes and puts stones around the pulpit, "neat I thought" I like props , sometimes they help me remember good messages with ease. Then he started preaching the same exact message that he preached at LA camp last night. That's no surprise that he preached that at LA to me. I know most the big names do that exact thing. As hard as I tried to have a good spirit and receive anything that God might be trying to show me, I felt uneasy and disagreed with quite a bit, but not being sure why. I've began searching since that time for answers.
I did not watch the message last night, but my g/f lives in LA and she went. Only to hear the same message and be disappointed like I was.
The stone I wished he would preached about would be
I Peter 2:4
4To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
That's my story and my 2 cents
