I can't believe that the main response to Dr. Vaughn's post has been "so what." It is a big deal that this man could possibly be President with a Muslim education/background. It was Muslims, in the name of the Muslim religion, who drove planes into WTC. And there have been thwarted other terrorists attacks that would have happened also attempted by Muslims. I fear more terror attackes if this man is elected. And has anyone take the time to read Obama wife's disertation? It is full of white hatered speech. Obama's former Pastor of 20 yearsis a bigot. I fear if this man is elected there will be rioting in the streets that will not compare to any race riots we have seen in all of our American history. Terror attacks and riots. God help and have mercy on America.

Where's your faith? Have you ever stopped to consider that God already knows who is going to win this election and has made any necessary provision for His children? All this business about him being a Muslim is ridiculous. Do you think he would pass the stringent background check required to become President if he had ties to terrorist groups? All this fear over nothing.

Consider ancient Israel. Jeremiah was crying in the streets, "the sky is falling" and no one listened. Rico, I really believe that God will allow a wicked nation to electe Presidents and Kings who are bad leaders. Then the judgment of God will come on the wicked--for the righteous sake. I think scripture supports that view.
Is Obama such a "base" (scripture word) person who will lead America away from God? I don't know. But I definately cannot say for sure he will lead us closer to God. Certainly Muslim ties are and should be a cause for concern. Can't you at least conceed that point? Just that we should be concerned for America that the nominee has a Muslim education and close ties to that community. Discounting the terrorist-muslim connection. Just the fact that this religion does not worship the same One God that Christians and Jews believe in. Is not this a proper concern?

The thing is that I can make the same argument about McCain. Is he going to lead us closer to God? What President has ever led us closer to God as a nation? That isn't the job of the President, U. We're not voting for who is going to be our pastor.

I don't have a lot of confidence in McCain either about leading us closer to God. But I do believe he comes from a Christian perspective--much more so than Obama. Am I off base with that assumption?

I think in our history that our Presidents have had a postive influence in leading our nation towards God. I don't know how old you are Rico, but I can remember Presidents in news conferences asking the nation to pray and asking for prayer for themselves (probably have to go back 30 years or more). We don't need a pastor in the President. There have always been the King-Priest relationship. The Priesthood is supposed to be closer to God and advise the King. My question is which King will be more likely to listen to a man of God, McCain or Muslim educated Obama?
