I dont' know all the details. She's pretty bright. She works for C. H. Dean and Associates...a small investment management firm. I remember when I was laid off we couldn't afford COBRA.

Actually, what COBRA does is allow one to continue as part of their former employer's group plan while they are looking for other work. The benefit is not having to qualify for individual coverage in the interim. The drawback is the insurance company can charge an individual rate, so it costs a lot more than what it did while still employed.

The church can barely pay it's own electric bills. Here's the deal....the Church's mission is to PREACH and TEACH. The Church should be a VOICE in this fallen world for morality, justice, and compassion. A perfect example of this is Tommy Douglas from Canada. He was a devout Baptist minister who ran for office and preached that all of Canadian society had a responsibility to one another. It was this man, a Baptist minister, who drafted the first provincial health care system to cover all Canadians in his province and taught Christian principles to the entire nation by example in public policy. Soon provinces throughout Canada began passing their own systems and eventually Canada had a national system that attempts to cover all. It's not perfect...any Canadian will tell you that...but the vast majority of Canadians would gladly take their system over ours.
Rev. Tommy Douglas was a world changer, because he was an advocate of the struggling and Christian voice in national policy.
Ron, you're Canadian...how do you feel about this?

I believe Bro. Price faced a serious loss in his family recently. I believe he has seen the gaps in our system first hand. Almost everyone I know who has seen this first hand comes out an advocate for a nationalized insurance system in some form.

Re: Does no one accept responsibility any more?
Once again. No one is suggesting that there arent issues with medical coverage in America.
we are however suggesting that Nationalizing healthcare is a triple stupid idea.
Only crybabies and morons want that.

One of the things churches could do would be to create associations for their members. As long as the purpose for the association isn't solely to obtain insurance they could form the association and then obtain a group health plan for its members. So, for example, all the apostolic church members in one state (or more for that matter) could join "Apostolic Association For The Betterment of Society" (or whatever they wanted to call it, have meetings to deal with whatever issues they are organizing to combat, and a perk for being a member would be access to the Association's group health plan. Good luck getting enough apostolics to agree enough to even form the association in the first place!
