Last night (4/13) in the Compassion Forum from Messiah College, Barak Obama said he believes in evolution and that evolution is compatible with the Genesis account from the bible.
Genesis does say "Let the waters bring forth" on the 5th day and "Let the earth bring forth" on the 6th day. Do these scriptures support the theoy of evolution or did God create each animal individually? How did God create each animal?

Consider that Gen chapter 1 speaks of the entire history of the Universe up to the creation of man. Day 6 is the entirety of human history. Day 7 is the beginning of the new heaven and new Earth.
.....and it all flows so seamlessly! People need to see beyond the children's Bible pop-up book version of events.

Some believe in what is known as “Scientific Creationism”. According to this teaching the earth is only between 6 and 10 thousand years old and dinosaurs lived along side man up until the great global flood in the time of Noah. They hold that God created all things instantly, in mass, by commanding that the earth and waters bring forth. They also hold that the days’ of Genesis are literally six 24 hour days.
Some believe in an old earth version of Creationism. There are primarily two schools of creationism in old earth creationism. The first is known as the Gap-Theory. This teaches that God created the Universe and all things in the dateless past, including dinosaurs. But after Satan was cast out of Heaven, the entire creation suffered death and destruction either under God’s wrath or at the hands of Satan who was a murderer from the “beginning”. They hold that this period of time took place in Genesis 1:1 and resulted in the chaos of Genesis 1:2. They also believe that God then took six literal days to RESTORE the earth and placed Adam in the garden to exercise dominion, a dominion Satan tricked Adam into surrendering through sin. The second school of old earth creationism is called “Day Age Creationism” and views the days of Genesis as being symbolic of “geologic ages”. This view is far more accepting of geologic and paleontological scientific data. Some believe that Adam and Eve were specialized creations miraculously created by God in the garden, or that the Genesis story is symbolic and that Adam and Eve evolved.
There is another view among “Creationists”. One is “Theistic Evolution”. Those who believe in this theory believe that evolution is the primary method God used to create life on earth. They view the Bible through the eyes of higher criticism. This means they believe the Genesis story is “divine myth”, a symbolic story expressing God’s step by step creation in symbolic generalities. They don’t believe Adam and Eve were REAL individuals who lived; they believe that the story of the Fall is a symbolic story explaining man’s sinful inclinations, God’s hatred of sin, man’s suffering, and spiritual death. They would say that the Genesis creation story is one re-lived in all of our lives on a daily basis when we willingly sin. To them it’s more of a story of mystical or spiritual truths than actual or factual history.
I’d guess Obama believes in “Theistic Evolution”. Or maybe, though less likely, “Day Age” creationism.

in context, Obama seperates his faith from public reasoning. (read his faith isnt reasonable).
He said very simply he believes in evolution. the quesiton concerned teaching intelegent design. He opposes ID being taught.
