The .45 is nice. I just need to hold one and see what I want. He works so much we haven't had time - although - he had time to look at his boat! What is up with that?

I did look at the .45. Very nice. After writing our western story I'm getting the feel of a pump action. I might just let my husband have his way.

I don't care if I get one or not, really. He works harder than I do. He deserves the boat. We are planning a trip to California in May, so I might just save my money for all the things I want to do out there.
I can't decide on the gun, so I'll just take my time. Mainly just looking on-line. I don't think I'll get anywhere with that. Like I said, I'll have to handle one and see how it feels.
Guns are just sweet! He perked up when I mentioned wanting one, so it's definitely not ruled out.

Re: Handgun or Pump action rifle?
Okay, found the gun that I decided on. Thanks for all the advice. You were right I needed to hold it!
I still like the Smith and Wesson and decided on a 9mm.
My husband was very serious and said to me, in the store. "If you are going to buy this gun, you have to also be willing to use it. If you don't think you could do it, then don't buy it."
I didn't buy it yesterday. I'm thinking about what he said and why he was so serious about it.

If you don't have the will to use it when the chips are down, it will be taken from you and used against you. If you don't know the legally valid situations for drawing and firing your gun, you can get yourself into deep legal trouble.
You also risk viewing the gun as a talisman, when in truth there are many ways to stop an attacker.
You must be willing to go through training, and to be taught its legitimate use.

I certainly agree with your post! I had planned on taking a course if I purchased the handgun. I am more comfortable with a rifle.
After doing all my studying and handling the gun - I was excited!
When he looked at me so gravely and talked with me so serious - I don't believe I have ever seen him that serious in my life - I backed away from the gun and told him I'd have to think about it.
Seriously, I felt afraid to buy it, for some reason. I felt as though I didn't really need it after all. What a lesson!
