Re: Girls PJ's are Pants?

I was reading through this thread and couldn't resist responding. I know the pj's thing sounds silly, however, let me explain why some people are so concerned about pj's. Having been saved in an ultra con church in the western district and remained in that district for well over 15 years. (I'm no longer there) I understand why the ultra cons are so concerned. Deut.22:5..... all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
Then flip over to Rev. 21:8 ...and the abominable...shal have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

We were taught that an abomination (old or new testament) always remained an abomination. So, for ultra cons it is a heaven or hell issue. I never put my daughter in pj pants. However, I now wear pj pants around the house. (So does she) Still wear dresses in public. This is still a hard confusing issue for me. I don't belive others will go to hell for this now. We were also taught that for our culture, dresses and skirts are the
clothing that pertains to a woman.

Thought this might help ya'll understand how the ultra cons were taught and why it is such a big deal to them.

I'm pretty new on AFF, so howdy everybody!

Re: Girls PJ's are Pants?

Sometime ago a local church told a woman she could no longer go to the choir because she wore pants to sing in the choir. She was a Christian of many years and her clothing was decent, not tight or revealing-a pants suit type thing. She left the church and went to a different pentacostal church. And she was accepted there. She did wear dresses sometimes and pants sometime.

I on the other hand have not worn a dress in 25 years. I am not comfortable in dresses, and all of my clothes are decent. I would not feel uncomfortable if Jesus appeared in front of me. I discussed this with my pastor, and we are a Church of God. Pastor asked me if I felt that God wanted me to wear dresses would I start and I sincerely said yes . All of my pants are cut for a womans body and not for a man's body and the pants have elastic in the waist not a snap or zipper.

I ralize this post was not about wearing pants in general but obviously If I don't see anything wrong with wearing pants in public I would not have a problem wearing pants to bed.

I have prayed about it and read the bible. I am young still and I know that things could change at any time. God could move me tomorrow to stop wearing pants. But for now I feel I am not sinning by wearing pants.

Re: Girls PJ's are Pants?

I really fon't think the issue is pants...most time it is just trying to be "more spiritual" than the church across town...
Someone told me the other day we should not wear red...lol...I looked at them and said then it seems we should not wear black...we someway associate black with evil...

People have strange opinions....

Oops! I'm in trouble then. If you open my closet, 75% of my clothes are black.

Welcome!

The issue is not pants vs. dresses, it's women's apparel vs. men's apparel.

The fact of the matter is that there are pants made for women, and pants made for men.

What is it about the seam up the middle that makes one a sin and the other one not a sin? I've yet to meet anyone who can explain that one....

I understand what you are saying, however, we are taught that apparel for women in our culture is skirts and dresses. That is how they get around the "apparel" word. It strictly has to do with custom and culture.

Thanks for the welcome!

That statement isn't entirely true. Apparel for women in this culture includes pants.

In addition, if it's culturally related, why do we preach to women of other cultures to wear skirts and dresses also?

Skirts and dresses are women's apparel, but it isn't all that women wear.
