Like most things in life moderation is a key to this type thing.
I have absolutely no problem with a church allowing a canidate a chance to greet the congregation and any church should be pleased to have a leader in service anytime.
Now if the church becomes unbalanced and the services become political rallies rather than services that is wrong. The occasional visit and honoring of high profile leaders is different.
I would be pleased and proud if Mike Huckabee visited my church but I doubt that is going to happen as CC really avoids politics.
My pastors brother in law is a former United States Congressman who recently ran for Mayor of Nashville and lost. I don't think he ever greeted the congregation even though technically he and his wife are members at CC and I see him there pretty often.

TV.....by your MANY statements, I am guessing that if Huck or any of the others wanted to visit your church you would say no?
Turn down the opportunity for all the exposure in your city?

Here is a little funny something regarding politics that happened at my church last Sunday.
The pastoral care pastor greets visitor, announces the offering, etc each Sunday and occasionally has special stuff. This past Sunday he brought to the pulpit a 17 year old girl who is a member of our church and who has been chosen to go spend six months in Washington DC as a Congressional Page. It is a big honor as only 30 new pages are chosen each time nationwide.
When he was interviewing her a little about her opportunity he asked her if she was interested in politics, etc. He then said he thought she would make a great FIRST woman President. The inference was obvious and the congregation had a good laugh.

Did you miss the part of my post which says "There Are Some"? If you aren't the some which I spoke about, then there's nothing to worry about.

So you will at least give me props that I'm consistent, riiight? Right??? Hello???
So...I am expecting a statement/blurb from you that somehow states that there are those in the upc rank and file that are at least consistent in their beliefs...thank you, you may continue...

I would not refuse anyone the opportunity to be impacted by God's presence.
Somewhere in the new testament, there is a commandment not to treat the the high and mighty any better than a pauper. The people I know @ the Auburn Hills church are classy people who follow that scriptural mandate and treat everyone equal.
The presence of a politician during the heat of a presidential race is more agenda driven than spritual driven. I just don't like to see the church drawn into personality driven politics. Unfortunately, the last time the Body of Christ made a historical impact politically was during the civil rights movement.

Well, the latest national poll has Huck double the points of Romney and McCain edging out Huck for first.
