I can't remember the winds being this bad during fire season and this many fires all burning at the same time.

Santa Barbara, Ventura county, LA, Orange and SD all get heck duringthis time of year every year. It's sad because we are talking about some beautiful areas and also some expensive houses and not so expensive houses.

Thad mentioned Oakland..I remember that. I also remember one year a really bad fire in Santa Barbara where a lot of houses were lost.
we're on talking terms again??? well Praise the Lord!!!
Calif. has had a lot of fires up in Tahoe and all of the sierra forest areas. most of those came from lightning strike. most of the south fires start from arsonist. I think Oakland was on of the exceptions ? I'm surprised we haven't had another fire like it up here since it's also been very dry.
It seems like when it does rain though, we end up with mud slides because the ground is so hard

You mean like this? I hope these show up, this is what we wound up with after the last go round of fires. For a couple weeks we had the ash settling, this was one hour after having my car washed. With my car sitting under a car-port.

Hi y'all...just came in from work.

Mom said my uncle called from CA...they just recently, within the last few weeks I'd say, moved rom San Diego to Ramona (I think that's the name of th eplace).

Anyway, they evacuated last night, and my uncle told one of my brothers today that he thinks they lost everything.

That is soooooooooo sad and I know the feeling of leaving your home not knowing if you will come back to find anything left.

yes I'm in northern CA. at this time we are not in danger plus we do not get santa ana winds although we have had our share of destructive fires.
I'm about 31/2-4hours north of the fires

SOME IDIOT KIDS just started a fire near my home. We just got word. I am so ever loving MAD!

Looks like they may be able to manage this one....but pray! Goodness...this is incredible.

Just as an update....they say the fires are 100% out of control. Without attacking the fires from the air (the winds are so strong that it is dangerous to fly planes in) you have no way of setting up any kind of barrier.

This is horrible.

Ramona is one of the areas that were hit hard last night and was the first city to have a city-wide evacuation. We have friends who live up there and trying to contact them today.
