It's not practical. For better or for worse we have to live with the policies of the past. "Ratting out" every illegal and then expecting a response from law enforcement each time would place too great a strain on the system.
It's better to
use our freedoms. It was primarily market forces and injustices at home that brought people here. Adapt to those forces and you will then also be pressuring the illegal's govts at home to change.
Put some teeth into existing laws, truly penalize employers who violate the law and secure the border. Mexico and Central America would be better places to live and work if we did that. It's kind of like Americans giving up drugs. If we did that Columbia would be a lot better place to live and work.
The pull and influence of our free markets (and black markets!) are extremely powerful. We need to look at the big picture and make a few tweaks to the status quo. The right tweaks and we won't have to run around hounding 20 or 30 million illegal aliens.
Personally, I don't want to live in a country where there's that kind of a crack down.
