The Tie Clasp In Pentecost.

In many Apostolic churches ,men wearing tie clasps on their neckties is taught agains't in standards preaching and teaching. However looking at pre-merger and merger era pictures one finds many Oneness preachers wearing tie clasps.
Why were they acceptable to many in the church in that day ?
Also if one has seen the first General board of The UPCI picture you will see alot of the men wearing tie clasps.
I realize years ago men wore suits to dinner and to ride trains and tie clasps were looking upon an a fashion accesory in that day ,now many men's clothing stores don't carry them, is the reason perhaps that tie clasps were acceptable to many back in the day ?

I never used as fashion accessory, it was to keep my tie out of the spagetti.

The tie itself is a vanity. Having to clasp it in place to avoid food stains or strangulation is a sign of weakness. Gird up your thorax when you gird up your loins and be done with it!

All is vanity...

Scott:

I've got to tell you a family story about the infamous tie clip...

My Grandad was visiting a campmeeting many years ago and he was wearing a tie clip. A woman walked up to him and asked, "Brother Morgan, I see you're wearing a tie clip, so I guess it's all right for me to wear earrings then?"

Grandad replied, "Sister, when your ears flop around like my tie does, you can wear all the earrings you need."

Yes, they did. When I was just a youngster I visited an Apostolic church for a rally once. I wore a tie clasp because I had been taught as a child to wear a tie clasp.

After the service as everyone was shaking hands and fellowshipping, a total stranger walked up to me and rebuked (not too harshly, but rebuked) me for wear that tie clasp. Just because I otherwise looked the part, he assumed that I must have been a part of one the Apostolic youth groups. I was really just a kid looking for Christians.

What if you were a first time visitor at that church.
And that stranger wasn't even your pastor.
