I agree, Matt, except that PP is still receiving threats and is advising the household of faith here to be cautious...nothing wrong with that from where I sit.

PP,
You know that I like you. But let's be honest. You just admitted that you can be a lightening rod. I wonder, with that, what do you expect an angry person to do with that? They are going to retaliate. Don't you think - reasonably?

That should be let go of - absolutely. I can only hope it is because in my experience some people aren't very good at letting go of things. They apologize abjectly, are forgiven, and next thing you know they're being threatened with junk again.

It happens because people are people. You have to pray like Jesus did ..... "Father forgive them for they know not what they do" and they don't always know what spirit they're of either. And then you decide how you'll handle it. "Let it go" is sometimes the best but it gives you insight into the heart and mind of a person.

I still think the initial post of this thread (barring whatever other situation there was/is that I know nothing about) was excellent advice.

And now people can decide how they'll act and react here. Watch with interest.

Over the past year I have received numerous threats though pm's. I had been foolish enough to share my identity with several people, and it really came back to bite me. I have had my ministry, secular occupation, and character threatened if I do not stop posting against traditional positions of the org.

I spent three hours last evening tracking down the last threat, only to be crushed to find out the anonymous culprit was someone I had considered trustworthy. I had stepped away from this user name for the last month because of all this. A few days after resuming posting as Pastor Poster this began again.

I would also warn you licensed ministers to never speak your conscience on AFF if your beliefs differ in even an insignificant way from your organization. Your anonymity is NOT guaranteed in any way.

On a personal note, I wish to clarify a misconception that seems to be floating around. I am not anti-UPC. I do have issues with several nondoctrinal items but on the whole I love the organization. I enjoy discussing these issues as the discussion helps me grow in knowledge.

Anyone who knows me recognizes that I always have and will continue to support the basic tenants of our doctrine for as long as I am a part. So to those of you offended by my posts, I sincerely apologize. Please do not threaten me again as I take these sorts of threats very, very seriously.
This is why I guarded my identity so fiercely when we were still in the org.

Okay folks, I'm gonna let this go for good now.

I will leave with this thought. This is a discussion board. We come here to discuss and learn. We share things here. This is not a UPC only board to my knowledge. If we cannot openly discuss things that we agree and disagree about - why are we here? If this forum stifles debate to satisfy the egos and pride of a certain segment it will only be a matter of time until the traffic flow slows considerably. If disagreements lead to threats people will leave in droves.

From now on I WILL remain silent regarding all things UPC under this username. Hopefully that will satisfy the borg.

No, as long as it is civil, I see no reason to close it. The subject discussed is well worth discussing. It is only the particular instant that needs to be left alone.

LOL

Yes, but I know what he means by it. I too am a nobody in the whole scheme of things and in the context PP means it.

PO, I know that I am not any where NEAR perfection and lose my temper, too, but as Saints, is retaliation acceptable behavior?!
