Over the past year I have received numerous threats though pm's. I had been foolish enough to share my identity with several people, and it really came back to bite me. I have had my ministry, secular occupation, and character threatened if I do not stop posting against traditional positions of the org.

I would also warn you licensed ministers to never speak your conscience on AFF if your beliefs differ in even an insignificant way from your organization. Your anonymity is NOT guaranteed in any way.

On a personal note, I wish to clarify a misconception that seems to be floating around. I am not anti-UPC. I do have issues with several nondoctrinal items but on the whole I love the organization. I enjoy discussing these issues as the discussion helps me grow in knowledge.

Anyone who knows me recognizes that I always have and will continue to support the basic tenants of our doctrine for as long as I am a part. So to those of you offended by my posts, I sincerely apologize. Please do not threaten me again as I take these sorts of threats very, very seriously.

I am sorry for what has happened to you. Way back at FCF I was always a proponent of preachers on a forum like this being anonymous for this very reason.

I remember being irritated by those who tried to denigrate those wishing to anonymous. Your thread illustrates perfectly why it is beneficial.

It is not that someone is "chicken" or "sneaky" when they are anonymous but just that they are avoiding this kind of vindictiveness and intolerance of what may be controverseal views within the UPC or other org.s.

This is a two way street as I also know conservatives who have been hurt by things they have posted.

I personally had someone try to destroy my long term relationships with ministry through a forum and I am not even a licensed minister.

For all of these reasons I second your warnings about being careful.

I think for most revealing a true idenity should only happen in PM's to people a poster has come to trust. Even then it is risky.

J/K.....I know what you mean, kind of like having Child Molesters registered so that everyone in town knows that a certain violator lives in their town?

I know that there are several though who have to remain anonymous for fear of being in trouble, either with their organization or with family and friends. I find that extremely sad.

Amen, after reading this I feel thankful that I don't belong to the UPCI in it's current state of being.

I probably woundn't equate a PM'ed threat the same as a Child Molester, but if someone wants to make the threat, post it and have them put up or shut up!
