special ladies meeting over the weekend
This weekend was our special yearly ladies meeting. I am at a lose of words to describe here the greatness of the presence of the Lord and His workings this weekend but in my limited way I will share with you a few highlights of two power packed days.
We have regular weekly ladies meetings so our ladies prepare and pray all during the year for this special weekend. It is not a closed in ladies meeting it is open to all that would like to come and participate. We do not chose a subject for our yearly local meeting “just for ladies only.” We have other meetings for those kind of things. This is a joyful meeting. This year our theme was Lady Warriors of the last hour. Ladies such as Rebecca, Deborah, Huldah and others were our heroes of the weekend.
Saturday night was awesome and the alter was full not only of ladies seeking to grow closer to God but young people as well as many brothers that come to back us up. I watched as tears were streaming down dozens of cheeks and people crying out to God to have the spirit of Rebecca. To believe without seeing, to grasp a blessing without always understanding and to step out by faith at God’s bidding. Oh! For Rebecca’s spirit! Ready to serve; go beyond the normal beyond the call of duty.
Even though during our special meetings we cancel most regular Sunday activities my Sunday School class asked me if I would have our special speaker meet with them Sunday morning since our services would only begin at two. I was so tired from the trip to the jungle and just getting in a few hours before the Saturday meeting with my house overflowing with guests to take care of but looking into their pleading eyes I said of course we can. So Sunday morning we gathered at 10:30 in our class and we had a packed Sunday School room with standing room only! Sister Burris spoke to our young people about protecting ourselves from our enemy. Would you believe that a meeting that was supposed to be not over an hour long but at 12:45 we had left the Sunday school room and were in the church shouting and dancing. I finally told them we had to stop worshipping as they needed to eat and the ladies meeting started at 2:00. Young people were being renewed in the Holy Ghost. (I sent word earlier in the meeting to my daughter in law Marcela and her mom and grandmother that were cooking that we would need lunch for over 50 young people besides our guests!) Thank the Lord for rice…and a little store that is open close to my house that sells weenies and for young people that anything to eat is ok with them. I have two American girls visiting so I asked them would they buy cold drinks as a treat and we just went from our spiritual banquet to the natural banquet.
How can I describe a ladies meeting that on Sunday afternoon lasted over four hours…before it was over Brother Alvear (and yes he does attend our ladies special meetings, not the Monday night ones as he is too busy but our special activities he is one of our biggest supporters) he baptized three ladies in that precious Name.
Everything was so beautiful. Sister Francisa had prepared for weeks her Sunday School class to sing. They are the smaller children they were all dressed alike. It was so precious. Different choirs sang and if I was a voting person I would have been perplexed to vote to say which was more anointed…they all sang with such anointing, such power. A new brother to our work that Brother Alvear baptized in Jesus Name in May came (formally a preacher and singer from the Assembly of God) I asked him to sing and he was so touched that he could sing at our ladies meeting. We were so blessed that he would come and so blessed that he would sing.
The church was very hot because of the tropical warmth of another hot season. Aside from the sweaty bodies, tiredness and heat headaches we were all sharing from worshipping in such heat we were overjoyed that 3 sinners repented and a healing took place and we were a part of the moving of God’s spirit.
Yes, we had little gifts to hand out to those that came. Everything was so sweet.
I always imagine heaven being like one of our services but just going on forever…except no sweet, no tired bodies…Praise and worship…dancing, clapping,…all troubles over…home at last…
Because of knowing one day we will be home at last it is our God given duty to invite all to heaven’s shores. May we go out today and win another soul for the Kingdom of the free.
