Somebody Prayed For Me (by Dottie Rambo).....Isn't she a great songwriter? We sang this one a lot of times back in the 70s and 80s!!
1. It was raining in my troubled heart, pushing through my weeping eyes
I had thoughts of weak surrender, with no courage left to try
When across the miles and distance, someone felt my pain and grief
Love reached down to bear my heavy burden, somebody prayed for me
Chorus:
Somebody prayed for me in my moment of deep despair
When my needs were great, they seemed to make all Heaven aware
Someone loved me so, they took me to the Throne of Grace
Somebody called my name in a quiet and secret place
2. I was sinking in my solitude, drowning in my tears
Bitter from the pain I bore, tortured by my fears
Joy had been a long time comin' and sorrow wouldn't let me be
The world was closing in, but the Heavens opened and somebody prayed for me
Chorus:
Somebody prayed for me in my moment of deep despair
When my needs were great, they seemed to make all Heaven aware
Someone loved me so, they took me to the Throne of Grace
Somebody called my name in a quiet and secret place
.......Yes, they did (and I am grateful)
Somebody called my name in a quiet and secret place
Joy had been a long time comin' and sorrow wouldn't let me be
The world was closing in I saw the Heavens open, and somebody prayed for me
Somebody prayed for me!

Words cannot begin to describe, SE, my gratefulness for those who stood and continue to stand in the gap, praying for me.
I received a lovely card many months ago by a poster here. She is not one with whom I have ever spoken, except a few times in posts or short PMs, yet she wrote...
"This first day of the New Year, you have been visiting me--in my thoughts and prayers."
The love of God will cause Him to put us on the hearts and minds of people who have never seen our faces, yet will pray for our need.
The power of prayer cannot be measured, for the benefits of sincere and heartfelt prayer have such far reaching benefits, our little human minds cannot fathom.

Have you ever prayed the Word?! Find a passage of Scripture and begin reading it outloud in the manner that you pray.
I read this today...
Psalm 30
1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
And this...
Psalm 3
1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

The Word of God is not just alive, Substance, it maketh alive. The Word brings hope when it seems all hope is gone...it sheds light in the midst of darkness and despair. It lifts the heart and replaces joy for sorry...a song for a tear.
It may seem strange to do, but try reading the Scriptures so that you can hear them...praying the anointed and inspired Word.

I read the Psalms aloud most of the time and if I don't understand a verse, I read it out loud too. My pastor about a month ago recommended reading the Bible out loud to increase faith.

Amen, I agree...I was sharing with a friend this afternoon regarding praying the Word, and it was she who remarked that it is such a powerful form of prayer because the Word was divinely inspired and anointed.
Thank God for His Word and for His Church...

A few months ago I was praying and quoted a few scriptures to the Lord and the next thing I knew words were coming out of my mouth that were not my thoughts, I think the words came from a psalm (I recognized them as scripture), anyway, I became overwhelmed and broke down weeping and couldn't continue. God is good and his mercy is everlasting.

That is SO powerful...thank you so very much for sharing that. I believe God wants to pray through us in this manner...
