Time for New Party?
I have very mixed thoughts about the pros and cons of a new party, such as the Tea Party.
I am very afraid a third party would put lying Hillary in office.
However, I would love a party that would stand strong for our constitutional rights.
And IF we had a third party and by a miracle actually win, could they accomplish anything in the House and Congress?
What do you think?

Our Constitutional rights rest solely in the States ensuring that the Federal Government not encroach on them. The States stopped defending their citizens long ago.

For a third-party to have any effect on the US, it would take either a very charismatic leader or an implosion of one of the two major parties.
The two party system has been very resiliant to change their politics depending on the whims of the people.
I believe the Republicans are currently undergoing a major course correction, but it is not one that I am in favor of.

We could lend a third party some credence this year by voting for Gary Johnson. He is rising in the polls as people continue to dislike both Hillary and her donor, Donald Trump. It would be a huge step on taking down the GOP.
If he gets 15% of the vote, he can be on the debate stage with the other two candidate with the highest unfavorables ever.
Remember that ALL parties have three factions - Conservative, Moderate and Liberal. The Libertarian Party is not any different.
Anyway, while Trump, Hillary and Johnson are all liberal on social issues, Trump and Hillary believe in a big government that can intimidate voters. They have no regard for states rights nor the Constitution.
At least the Libertarians are for a small centralized government and they want more power returned to the states and the people.

Re: Time for New Party?
Perhaps people could get behind the Constitution Party. The goal short and medium term would be to build the Party up to a point that it could control a state at the local and state level, and expand from there to be a credible threat to the big national biparty.
The Libertarian Party is a joke and has been for a long time.
Any third party effort must be understood as a long range goal. There is no chance of a third party victory in the current cycle.
The real key is local, because "all politics is local". Without controlling at least one state, a third party has no chance period.

Thought about that, but then after reading Johnson's policies, I couldn't support or vote for him.

The Constitution Party has never had a candidate that people want to listen to.

On social issues, he isn't any different than Trump or Hillary. At least he wants economic growth and lesser government. That's a start, because moral issues can't be legislated.
He doesn't want foreign aid unless it helps the US.
No Cap and Trade - it hasn't proved to have helped the environment.
School vouchers are Constitutional - school choice.
Abolish Depart of Education and HUD
Too many unnecessary laws leads to too many in prison.
Vetoed early release of prisoners due to overcrowding.
Vetoed hate crime legislation as thought-crime.
Eliminate double taxation embodied in business income taxes
No bank bailout; no farm subsidies; no stimulus.

I could wind up voting for Johnson.
In my state, it does not really matter how I vote as it will go to Trump, anyway!

Same for me. I voted for Gary Johnson last time. Will probably do so again. I'm not in a swing state and as I told my country sheriff, it's about the principle of the thing. He said, "Yes, you are right. We aren't in a swing state and we do always carry the Republican."
