Here are some questions, would you call a Puerto Rican or Cuban Hispanic? How about a Dominican? Guatemalan?

Yes.

Would you call them white?

Depends on their racial heritage, as in how much of their Spaniard (from Spain) heritage is reflected in their skin color.

Black and white discussions get very, very muddy when speaking of Hispanics.

So to say Hispanics are white would be a mistake in MANY circumstances, especially in America.

Something just occurred to me.

There are Hispanics who would consider themselves white but, when you look at them, you can tell they are not Anglo or even Spaniard white. A perfect example of this is seen with George Zimmerman.

But you couldn't call him black either.

So he and many others self-identify as white if asked, " black or white" and then specify Hispanic.

Why avoid mixing cultures? America is one gigantic mixed culture fruit salad, or even smoothie with fruit chunks.

oh, because Scripture; and you say our cultures are "mixed," but are they really? I suggest that cultures live side by side, but rarely mix; hence "Chinatown," etc. black 'sections,' latino 'areas,' it's endless. That mixing, that your reply indicates, is an illusion.

No it isn't an illusion. In tv, movies, and even in our music you can see the influence of culture upon culture and I think it is a good thing.

ok well i did not say that cultures do not influence each other; just that they don't mix as per what your post alludes to. It is a complete illusion, and no matter how many times you say it is not, Chinatowns are not going to dissolve as all the Chinese there spontaneously integrate into your society, wadr.
