Re: The Question No One Can Answer

NSF,

You just send me 10% of your income because the elephant needs special food. This special food can't be seen by the human eye. If it is seen, you will die instantly. You must never try to see it. It will be delivered by my special messengers who wear special equipment. You will never see them feed the elephant for it is too dangerous for you. Just send the 10% and I will see to it your elephant will always be taken care of.

If you don't believe in this elephant, it will slowly starve to death in your living room. It will constantly whimper as you sleep. If it dies, it will be your fault and you will be a murderer and therefore lost and hell bound.

If you do not feed the elephant, your wife and children will hear the elephant whimper at night and wonder why you are so cold and heartless and why you refuse to live up to your responsibilities.

Are you willing to take this chance? Is it not better to be safe than sorry?

Maybe it's that simple. God did not want to heal my brother.

But I should love him anyway.
How in the world did my words about seeing more and more answers to prayer incite you to challenge me to a showdown where someone is afflicted purposely to see if my prayer would heal them, or my entire statement about seeing more and more miracles is wrong?

How does seeing more and more miracles equate that everytime I pray for the sick they are healed?

And when it comes to your brother not being healed, I do not know why he wasn't. But that does n't stop me from believing God heals. There are so many variables involved that we cannot make a general rule. You just quoted me quoting James' wwrds where not all prayers are answered.

But again, you got depressed over this sort of Why have an extremist perspective on this by getting depressed if people were not healed? Your extremism does not dictate whether or not the Bible is wrong simply because you took an extremist perspective on it.

The extremism is also why a person would get depressed as though somehow if God does not answer every single prayer we get emotionally wracked over it.

Yes, it is. And children die from "extremism", as you call it. Don't know the stats, but it seems like every year a case or two makes headlines, where believing parents "stand on God's Word" and watch their children die, rather than take them to a doctor. They followed the instructions in James to the letter.

Extremism?

But yes, taking God's word for exactly what it says can be deadly, and can cause depression. You are correct.

Happy now?

That wasn't the challenge. I'm not going to hack off someone's leg so you can heal it!

Not getting off that easy.

Sorry, it is extremist to think that lack of healing should give one a right for depression. It is not healthy Christianity. No wonder some folks are where they are today. They handled it completely wrong. It's lack of taking everything the bible said about a thing into consideration.
