I seriously have wanted to weep over this post. Have we come to the place where somebody asks us what holiness is and we point them to a dress code?
BRO WH....the things of which you speak are NOT yeah verily I say NOT "HOLINESS". They are seperation standards and convictions.
Holiness is JESUS CHRIST...PERIOD! His nature, his essence. Ballgames, theaters and tv are NOT Holiness...they are YOUR convictions.
This is a slap in the face to the very nature of Calvary. To think that when WH is asked what HOLINESS is, he goes directly to outward...outward ...outward. That is a disgrace to the Apostolic Movement and the very church of the Living God.
What about inward Bro...what about deceit, lying, idoloty, gossip, backbiting, envy, fornication...ect ect...NOW those ARE Holiness issues.
To think a lost world would ask you "PASTOR WHOLE HEARTED..how can I be h"HOLY"....you would actually say...no tv, no sports, no cut hair, no shorts, no makeup, no jewelry, no rings, no perms, no movies, no theaters, no swimming, no skits below the knee, no short sleev shirts, no red, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AGH!!!! I could SCREAM!!!!!!!!
NO WONDER the Modern christian world is kicking our backsides on winning a lost world!!!!!
I for one am embarassed that I share an organization with this type of garbage thinking!

Even though I have served as a District Superintendent, I have told Vicki that she is welcome to sing in MY church anytime -- in the congregation with the rest of the visitors.

Bro,
The "Christian world" isn't "winning" a lost world. If they are not converting them to the Acts 2:38/Holiness message, they are STILL LOST.
Just though you might like to hear me say that.

What a novel thought you must obey the gospel to be saved.

I am still a little put out over something that was said during a General Board meeting. A certain individual was discussing the transition from "Harvestime" to "Media Missions," and said, "Sinners don't listen to Christian radio." I leaned up to the Texas District Superintendent (who was setting directly in front of me) and asked, "Aren't Baptists still sinners?"
I'm finding out that there are evidently a LOT of "our" people who don't believe you HAVE to obey Acts 2:38 to be saved.
That's sad.

Ummmm....that does not sound accurate to me. You are stating that as a FACT. I would say that you are assuming a lot.
I have heard others try to say of those who support the whole "transition" process (whether it be Harvestime to Media Missions or a change in the manual to allow advertising on TV)...as people who don't believe the doctrine (1 God, Acts 2:38). I just have to say that I have yet to hear one of those people turn their nose up at this message. I still hear them preach the necessity of our plan of salvation ( Acts 2:38) and our Oneness revelation.

I guess I kind of made a leap there -- I was not accusing those connected with Media Missions. I was using that story to make a point about misconceptions.
Does that make you feel better?
