For anyone to take issue with those who used, or responded to it, means they also think that I, or whoever, actually believes everyone here is a reprobate. Perhaps folks should really ask themselves the intent of a poster before responding. A newbie made the post. Most newbies do not know how this place works. It takes time to come to an understanding of the dynamics. This newbie actually knows several of us. If you think he was literally saying everyone here was a reprobate then that means he was lumping those of he knows into the same category. That was enough for me to realize he was posting TIC. Come on, we all know that broad, general statements are not intended to be taken overly seriously.

If necessary, which will be near impossible, Admin may need to list all objectionable terms and phrases. Good luck with that one. Further, as to favoritism: I think it all balances in the end at this point. Some days the tide seems to flow one way, on other days it flows the other way. That is the dynamic.

I wouldn't say there's anything like favoritism going on behind the scenes...I just don't see it. It may just be that either it didn't get caught, or it wasn't deemed offensive enough to make a clear ruling on it. At least that's what I've seen so far.

I will be the first to admit, I detest the bad attitudes and degrading of posters. We have rules, and if you break the rules, you pay the price, as it should be. But many times there are so many dynamics going on, it's hard to make a straight line judgement call.

I appreciate this post. I did post in the admin area, that I come from this culture and I remember throwing around the word reprobate lightly - I think there are other terms that are used too that when looked at closely shouldn't ever be said.

That statement might have been TIC, but I do not feel that it read that way going by the flow of that thread. Also, newbie? That poster has been around since FCF days.

I completely agree with your statement about the tide flowing one way to the other and that all in all in the end, things are pretty balanced.

I'm amazed that no one is willing to admit that poor composition AND poor reading has led to so much misunderstandings in the past.

I well remember a post that I made on the Faithchild forum concerning preachers who did not buy their wives a diamond ring. Though the paragraph was perfectly constructed, poor readership took great exception to the subject of the participle...if I recall. Hundreds of heated exchanges followed with no clarity of day.

Never mind the Kings English. We do not speak it in America anyway. We speak the American English and we should take better care in its construction. This advice ought to be taken by myself as well.

I will admit it with you. I see it happen all the time.

Also, to that point - a lot of times it's not "heard" right because someone already has their mind made up to what you are "trying to say" instead of reading just what you are saying.

Yeah, and THAT too.

That ties in with my original proposition. Since we can't see each other face to face, the problem of poor English is compounded by often unwilliness to understand what is being said.
