That's a little disingenuous, attempting to make the assumption that the Democratic party of the 1860's even remotely resembles the Democratic Party of the 2000's. I did a job in a nurses house one time and she never had the tv on when her small children were there ,she said that it was because it causes ADD with the flashing screen etc. and said it never should be around children in the developmental years ( this was also backed up by a study at childrens hospital in Boston),in fact one of her fellow nurses was having trouble with her child with violence and they challenged her to get rid of the tv ,after being laughed at ,she told her what do you have to lose? The lady said fine and did it, within just a few short weeks her child was like a different child altogether,she was amazed.I have also had an unchurched university professor say to friends of mine, when they found out they didnt have a tv ,i thought we were the only weirdos that didnt have one.A lot of highly intellegent people never watch tv,including hollywood types,they simply dont have time and they know its a mind waster.

American conservatives and Republicans because of supposedly irresponsible things said and written, they should pause and consider that one of their own, a liberal Democrat congressman, Paul Kanjorski, considered a close friend of both Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, had this to say in a newspaper interview back in October, shortly before he got his bcd kicked out of office after 26 years as a Pennsylvania prince of pork:

"That Scott down there that's running for governor of Florida," Mr. Kanjorski said. "Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. That statement was so over the cuff that no one would have taken that serious.

No Republican talking heads have ever blatantly suggested for anyone to be killed.

So when you quote someone who makes a statement like that publicly, blatantly, it is understood that the speaker is not calling for the statement to be taken literally.



Yet, you have not addressed the rise in leftward thinking militias, violent in nature, that occasionally act out-- killing innocent people and their children ever so often, as they make a stand for their cause.

Over the last 20 years, we have seen a sharp rise in right-winged extremism, their groups, their vitriol, and their lash outs into society.
