I Was There But They Did Not Baptize Me

They did not baptize me because I had not yet repented of my awful sinful life. I was only a month old. Somewhere in this picture is my mother and dad. I was only a month old.

Taken in Catahoula Parish, La., at Harrisonburg in Sept. 1940. Bro. Sassman held a big tent revival and had many converts.

I am related to many of the people in this picture. Among them are the families of the Bouey's, the Boothe's, the Cotten's and of course the Strange's too.

This is the Ouachita River bridge. It has been a few years since I've been there but it was still there the last time I was there. This is at Harrisonburg, La. I attended school there.

I love these old photos. I would love to be able to step back in time and
experience what church was like in those days. I wouldn't want to go
back to those days, but just experience the spirit of that time.

The love of God is the same. It never changes. However there are levels of depth. It was much deeper in those days in most places. It was the end of the depression. Times were very hard on people. Heaven became real and so much looked forward to. Thus, with the burdens of life being what they were, this world had less appeal to them in those days. They were more hopeful of heaven and the release of the toils and burdens of this life.
