Prayer

Asking you all to pray for my nephew Ethan.

He is 3 years old and today he had surgery to remove his tonsils and adnoids.

To say the least, he is in a lot pain and to a 3 year old...well, it's pretty unmanageable.

Please pray that God would heal him quickly and give him a speedy recovery.

The hardest thing is to see a child in pain. He, of course, does not get it.. THANKS! Since I have been home and have seen him, I am praying that prayer as well....

I can imagine what this child (and his parents) are going through. Both my daughters had this surgery done on the same day in 1997. I will never forget it. If I had it to do over again, I'd have waited till they were a little older than what they were-- and they could have understood a little more. It made me feel like a horrible monster for putting them through that much pain. One of my daughters was a strep carrier and kept passing strep to her sister. The pediatric ENT said the only way to stop the strep throat from going back and forth between them, was to do the surgery on BOTH children. (He was right... neither of them has had strep throat since but it didn't make it easier on my children)

They make all kinds of promises to the kid in advance about getting to eat popcicles and ice cream after the surgery-- and in reality, the kid feels afterwards like he has been lied to because frankly they don't want anything or feel like eating anything at all for at least a couple of days. Then Mom has to try to explain why those people basically "lied" to the child.

I will keep this Ethan and his family in my prayers. My heart really goes out to them, because I've been where they are.
