Ties - guys really?

NOT A STANDARDS THREAD!!!

Do men, really like ties?

I hate 'em, other men have said they do to. To satisfy curiosity- am I a minority in that position?

Thank you.

I do wonder as they have nearly 100 years of history, why have we just not said no?

I love them. I love bow ties too, but I don't know how to tie those. I have tried and I have failed at learning how to tie bow ties.

Wearing a tie does not bother me.

I mean to me, its a decorative hangmans rope. It is a bother to tie one. Such time could be spent learning a new guitar lick or something more useful. I have never understood why they were invented. But then again I also hate fashion, the devil wears prada....or so says folks that have an inkling toward such a thing. I would not know a prada from a .......dont even know an opposite to put. I cannot fathom a human being sitting there going, yeah.....now if only we had a blue striped flag in a noose around his neck that would be perfect.

There are people starving, there are lawns to mow, cars to fix, wood to be rendered into useful objects......who has the idle time to think about colors of nooses, or what we wear to keep us from being stark nekid.

Does it keep me warm, is it cold outside, can I push up the sleeves if it should warm up. These are thoughts on clothing.

Does it go with the shirt........

Waadda ya need to go with a shirt? Unless its freezing out and so you toss on a sweater too?

I dont get it?

Mike likes his diminishing beard. I like suits and ties. I don't believe anyone must wear one, nor would I condemn anyone for wearing a suit and tie. (My previous posted opinion of beards is just the same.)

I hate wearing a button up shirt and having gaps between the buttons, especially towards the waist of my pants. The tie covers it.

I'm not fond of t-shirts, which are usually thin. Nor am I very fond of Polo shirts, which are either too big or too tight -- though I do own and wear several Polo shirts occasionally.

Ok, I can agree the tie covers the button up problem. I fit nice in a polo. I usually wear one to church, because they are more acceptable to the sunday best beleivers, and I dont want to flaunt that I dont care about fashion else I wander into a sort of questionable spirit.

I guess I dont understand the human interst in fashion?

I think the real answer may lie in the fact that . . .

The women like them!
