If they did not, then it's fake news.

If all which you have issue with is the author not being clear on the date, but everything did happen as described, it is not fake news.

I'm going to present a little bit of "fake news". I'm going to be vague on dates and events that transpired relating to what I'm talking about. I'll then put it in a format that presents it as being relevant for today. Let me know if you'd say it's "fake news"...

"Dictator threatens the World."

The new German chancellor has started a campaign to strengthen his authority over the press and the police in Germany. The Chancellor warns that the world is against German advancement and stability. The Chancellor has threatened Britain, Poland, and France with regards to strategic military grievances. The German Chancellor even speaks of asserting German hegemony in Europe, and throughout the world.

How President Trump will deal with threats such as these, we do not know. We do know that President Trump felt insulted, and even slighted by the German Chancellor when he visited Germany. And with the German Chancellor showing to be one of the strongest voices in Europe today, this could be bad for America. However, we pray that he keeps a cool head, and strong conviction, if confronted with growing threats such as these. America must stand firmly behind our President in such times of trial and uncertainty.

You'll note that while what I wrote might be able to be tied to factual events. The way I've written it could give the wrong impression to those who are uninformed.

Sorry, but that doesn't work because you literally made up something which did not happen. Your story is fake news. The other story did not make up events or circumstances but yours did.

Again, and this shouldn't be difficult...the story was true, the events actually happened with/to the people named in the story.

Your analogy is dumb, sorry. Hitler and Trump. Surely you can come up with a better analogy.

Each did happen... in different contexts... and they were separated by well over 50 years. lol

The author of the story did not take two different events and mesh them together to create a fake story as you did. All he did was leave out, for whatever reason, that this ONE, true event happened in 2015.

It's not just about the date.

It's written to be provocative, giving some details but not other details. It's written to give you the impression that it is happening currently.

In a time where things in this country are going badly, this piece is written with the specific purpose to enrage and divide-- to get you so emotionally connected to the story that when you realize that the truth isn't EXACTLY how it's presented, it won't matter because your emotions have been provoked.

In simpler terms, it's subtle manipulation.

Um, Jermyn, I think you’re making this out to be more than what it is. As Esaias said, the writer wrote it as if the event happened recently, because when they wrote it, the event was recent.

I really don’t think it’s the writer that wrote it to deceive people. It’s not the original writers fault that someone decided to copy paste the article and post it.

It’s as if in 2010, I wrote a piece about an event that just happened, then someone in 2017 took what I wrote, copied and pasted it word for word, and posted it as a new article.

The article I have linked was presented on September 25, 2017.

It was presented as if it was just happening this year-- conveniently leaving details on the dates and the fact that all of the perps involved in this case are already in jail.


"Smith has been charged in relation to the murder and is still in custody, but the other teen was only charged with robbery despite being an accessory. Police are now offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Hamilton."

Implies and on-going situation-- presented as on-going September 2017.

OK. The ORIGINAL AUTHOR may have wrote this a couple of years ago, but it was repeated by this new source as if it was recent news with an on-going investigation.

Why publish a story where you are BLATANLTY leaving out pertinent facts like timeline, arrests, and convictions?

It is irresponsible journalism, at best-- which indeed be fake news.

This article has just enough truth to get you emotionally involved, not enough truth to tell you that the story has already ended with the perps behind bars.
