Hello, everyone.
I grew up Pentecostal, in a church affiliated with the UPCI, but I left it and religion altogether in 2005, beginning a spirit of questioning and searching -- a search that would bring me to a different kind of altar, seeking reception into a liturgical church, where I converted to Christianity. I say converted because I recognized in 2005 that I didn't really have a personal faith, merely a fearful dedication to what my parents told me to believe. In 2011 I came to Christ honestly, and have since begun to appreciate many of the Pentecostal practices I was brought up with as a way of preserving a relationship with God amid a culture of corrosion and sin. I came here, I think, out of curiosity as to what the general culture is like in the Apostolic/Pentecostal movement today.

Mostly no. I know that's a weird answer...the church I attend in is Catholic/Orthodox in form, centered on the Eucharist. Its doctrines are very loose, however, and all of my formation and educational reading come from Catholic, Orthodox, or kindred sources..CS Lewis, for instance. By happenstance some of my favorite authors are Catholic (Joseph Pearce and Anthony Esolen), so I have enormous sympathy for the Church in general. Frankly, if it weren't for my personal ties to my home parish (which does not reflect the politics of the national organization) and my wariness regarding the papacy in general and the present pope in particular, I might have swum the Tiber by now. I'm still studying both the Catholic and Orthodox arguments, however.

You should talk with peter83 he was Greek Orthodox. My wife was raised in the Greek Orthodox Church, and we still have very close friends in ROCOR.
I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church, and have family members who are Sedevacantist. What form of Orthodoxy are you in?
