Who Knows The Back Story To Flint's Poison H2o?
I tried reading up on it myself, but I got confused.
How on earth did this happen?
Lead in the water?
That is brain/neurological damage for A WHOLE LOT OF CHILDREN!
How on earth did this happen?

Re: Who Knows The Back Story To Flint's Poison H2o
JD - good question. I have read several different articles, but not really completed any focused reading. If I remember, the Governor appointed authority moved them from buying Detroit City water to using water from the Flint River, because of the high price of the water from Detroit. However, the acidity of the Flint River resulted in lead leaching out into tap water.
What no one really knows is what the lead level was before with the Detroit City water. From what I have read there are lots of lead pipes and fittings in the Flint water system.
Side note, there was an article this week on lead in the soil in many urban areas, go to this link for an interesting read:

What I don't understand is that every child gets tested for lead levels when they are just 9 months old or so (or should). You would have thought parents all over Flint would have been checking to find out where the lead levels in the home were coming from. I don't understand how this was covered up for two years.

Well, it sort of defines Flint's--and more broadly, Michigan's--leadership problem, imo. I did a couple stints in Flint, and was mostly impacted by how great the people are v how bad their leaders are, and continue to be. When you are electing blind people for mayor, God is trying to tell you something imo.

Re: Who Knows The Back Story To Flint's Poison H2o
Another interesting article on Flint.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...nt-crisis.html
snippet
"The order issued Thursday acknowledges the state notified EPA officials in April 2015 that Flint was not treating the river water with additives to prevent corrosion from pipes.
It says Hedman and others in the regional EPA office voiced concern to state and city officials over the next few months. But it wasn't until October 16 that EPA established a task force to provide technical help — the day Flint switched back to the Detroit water system."
Sounds like there is plenty of blame to go around with this issue.

I didn't say this.
A white person said this, albeit a Democrat.
She also said that she would be happy seeing the Republican Governor accept responsibility and resign.
Whether he resigns or not won't answer the question of HOW AND WHY was this was allowed to happen!
Of course, for many blacks, they see things like this and it just reinforces the mindset they have about those rich, white, Republicans who really could care less about what happens to poor black people.

Erin Brockovich-- "I think at some level it’s (resigning) just the honorable thing to do.”

Yet another example of that Democrat divisiveness. Pitting whites vs blacks. Shame on Stabenow for playing the race card on this issue.
Ridiculous. And yet, it's what Democrats do.
Oh, look, a Democrat demanding a Republican Governor resign.
I'm so surprised...

I'm with you on this.
Still though, how and why did all this happen? What on earth were the people in government thinking?!
What about the people-- and their children???
