America
So..I'm not a political expert by any means. But I do love history and have been reading and studying the history of our nation for the last several months. At one point I was almost anti-patriotic. My view has evolved a bit since then. Now, when I look at the History of our nation I cannot deny that God was involved in its foundation. I do not buy that we were a "Christian Nation" as far as biblical standards go...and I do not believe that we are a theocracy as many conservatives would make us to be. But I do believe that our founding fathers had the Bible in mind as they drafted the Constitution and I don't believe you can separate our foundation as a nation from faith in the divine, or providence, or God. I do believe that the nation has strayed from its roots and become something it was never intended to be.
So here is my question...where do you think God was as this nation was being founded? Where are we now in relation to our past (especially that revolutionary period)? Most importantly, where are we going and what does the future hold, in your opinion, for America?

Re: America
In some ways, our society has improved. The racism I saw as a kid no longer exists. Like 3 public bathrooms, the third "colored".
Freedom makes our country the place where others come to feel safe.
Grumble all you want, Wall Street is the safest place on the planet to invest money. The world comes to NY.
Christianity seems to have a lowed impact on our society than it once did. The conflict between Christianity and our society is, in my mind healthy. Healthy for christianity. A sad commentary about our country.

I believe America was founded as part of God's divine plan. As a nation we have strayed and have gone into "captivity". If the nation repents God will do amazing things through the nation. If we don't God will continue to weaken us until we are practically destroyed. A foreign invasion with nukes is certainly not out of the question. Whatever it takes.
I also believe time is running out.

Re: America
It is interesting that this topic is brought up. I was just listening to Mark Morgan speaking at our prayer conference last year. He told a story of Bro. T.W. Barnes. He asked Bro. Morgan if be knew why the USA was created. Bro. Morgan said he did not. Bro. Barnes said that the USA is one of the youngest nations in the world. He said that when something created loses its purpose, there is no reason for that creation to exist any longer. He then asked Bro. Morgan again why the USA was created. Bro. Morgan still could not answer. Bro. Barnes said the USA was created to fund foreign missions.
So the question is now, are we still funding foreign missions like we should be? If not, what should we expect?

We in the Assemblies are very foreign missions minded.

We "Apostolics" are in the truth as to how to get saved and pretty close on who Jesus is. Apostolics have a lot of truth to still come to IMO.

Re: America
England exported missionaries. The USA exports missionaries. So does many other countries.
We had slavery. Now it is gone. We treated women and minorities poorly. That has also been addresses. We promote freedom round the world, which is good for Christianity.
So we have several purposes. Things like race relations are better now than 100 years ago. So there is corruption, but also improvements.

This is true. It has also occurred to me that America has been the staring place for some major "revivals". Cane Ridge was shortly after the revolution and Acts 2:38 and the oneness of God appears to have been preached there.
How do you feel about the morality of our founders? I'm seeing that many had tremendous character even if they lacked in the moral departments at times.
