Lightbulb I need a Laptop Computer

Just thought one of you might have a suggestion for a me. I need a laptop computer to get set up in my private practice...all the scheduling and billing is done online and my old computer has just about had it. Anyone know of a good deal?

Blessings, Rhoni

If I were wealthy, I would help all of the people on this board who need help!!

There are usually quite a few good deals on Dells.

Check out this site, Rhoni:

Rhoni,

Those of us *COUGH* "in the industry" *COUGH* call them "Notebook Computers" now.

They all run way too hot to be called 'laptops' anymore. You wouldn't want any of them on your lap, trust me. They get uncomfortably hot with the hopped up processors in them.

I have the Dell Inspiron E1705. I love mine. Not just saying that because I work there either.

It's a big notebook though. It's got some heft to it (17 inch screen), so I have a rolling case for mine. I don't carry it on my shoulder. It's this case, which also has an 'overnight' compartment that acts as a small suitcase.

Be a Geek!

Dells have Linux.

Not so tech minded, Either a manufacturer with direct sales like Dell, HP, or someplace like NewEgg.com .

Find what a warranty for a small business user costs, and find out if you have business interruption coverage on your Insurance covering Data only, or Data & Software. Or invest in a subscription to someplace like Salesforce.com to make online appointments that are backup offsite.

Lately Best Buy has had some really great deals on Toshiba laptop computers. Don't know what they have right now but a week or two ago for $599 they had a dual core Intel processor, 15.4" wide britescreen with 1 gig RAM, dual layer DVD / CD burner, microsoft works, media card reader, firewire port, etc. Oh and with Vista Premium.

If I did not like Rhoni, I would NEVER recommend Best Buy after some of what horrors The Geek Squad has inflicted on users.

They have been shown to be selling returns on those mark down racks. She is not a technophobe. My Linux comment was tic, and I think she should avoid BB like the plague.

If you are buying a new product Best Buy is fine. I don't plan on buying open box items from them or using the Geek Squad!

I do huge amounts of research and comparison shopping before buying and usually that means I buy major purchases online.

In the case of a new notebook computer though BB had absolutely the best price for the feature by about two hundred bucks.

A couple of other places were close and one matched it BUT with rebates you had to mail off and wait three months for your money. BB's was an instant rebate off at time of purchase.
