I thought Fast and Furious was a stupid op, but this makes it look like a brilliant and well thought out plan.

"The FBI encouraged and sometimes even paid Muslims to commit terorist acts during numerous sting operations after the 9/11 attacks, a human rights group said in a report published Monday."

"In some cases the FBI may have created terrorists out of law-abiding individuals by suggesting the idea of taking terrorist action or encouraging the target to act."

"But take a closer look and you realize that many of these people would never have committed a crime if not for law enforcement encouraging, pressuring and sometimes paying them to commit terrorist acts."

"The HRW report, however, cites the case of four Muslim converts from Newburgh, New York who were accused of planning to blow up synagogues and attack a US military base.

A judge in that case "said the government 'came up with the crime, provided the means, and removed all relevant obstacles,' and had, in the process, made a terrorist out of a man 'whose buffoonery is positively Shakespearean in scope.'"

"The rights group charged that the FBI often targets vulnerable people, with mental problems or low intelligence."

"It pointed to the case of Rezwan Ferdaus, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison at age 27 for wanting to attack the Pentagon and Congress with mini-drones loaded with explosives.

An FBI agent tol Ferdaus' father that his son "obviously" had mental health problems, the report said. But that didn't stop an undercover agent from conceiving the plot in its entirety, it said."

Not surprising, AG Holder defended the undercover ops as "essential in fighting terrorism."

Seriously? The FBI is paying people who aren't terrorists to become terrorists!

How is this not entrapment?!

Holder claims "These operations are conducted with extraordinary care and precision, ensuring that law enforcement officials are accountable for the steps they take -- and that suspects are neither entrapped nor denied legal protections."

Gimme a break, moron.

Whoever is running this op needs to be arrested and tried for treason.

Leave it to this stupid administration to come up with this kind of operation. What a dumb idea....take resources from chasing the actual bad guys, and create (then arrest) fake bad guys to inflate obama's "terrorists captured or killed" numbers.

Was Boston a failed FBI op like this? Did they encourage, pressure or pay those brothers to bomb the marathon and screw up the pre-bombing arrest? IIRC, there was a news report about an unusual number of agents at the marathon.

Makes one wonder...

This op is not much different from the ops where cops place bugged cars for people to steal or female cops posing as prostitutes.

If you are inclined to commit crimes, under the right circumstances, why not give the would be criminal the right circumstances in a controlled environment?

These operations did not begin with this Administration.

For example, the Newburgh 4 from New York were investigated and arrested in June of 2008. The "leader" of the four wanted to shoot GWB "700 times."

So these guys made a bunch of threats and only acted on it after meeting an FBI agent. Again, this isn't just a bait car...it's giving the keys and cash to someone who likely wouldn't commit an actual crime.

And I figured this would happen. Gotta protect your buddy.

1) Doesn't mean it's any less stupid. IIRC, there was a type of F&F ops done during W's admin. Stupid ops aren't limited to one party.

2) The ops is continuing, and being defended by Just Us AG Holder. So any attempt to deflect this as just W's problem is incorrect. They should end this op and focus on real terrorists, not people merely making threats without having any means of commiting the crime.

If they're making threats, by all means investigate the threats. But don't give them money and explosives to try and do it.

I disagree that this isn't different than bait cars and prostitutes. Did you read the Judge's statement? The FBI planned the crime, came up with the means and removed all the obstacles. That's not putting a bait car in a parking lot....that's putting a bait car in the lot and giving a key to someone walking by, then arresting him and claiming he was a car thief.

Not every case is like Rezwan's, where he wanted to do something and they helped trap him before doing so.

Sure, they'll get lucky with arrests like this, but the charges of them turning law-abiding people into terrorists is disturbing, as is the accusations from the Judge. And sooner or later, they will screw up and someone will blow something up.

And it will be the FBI who should be blamed for it.

It's like watching Fast and Furious. Seems like a good idea. But man, one mistake and good people will die. Then what?

Hogwash, all these were people who were looking for ways to harm the USA, they begun inquiring how to do some terrorist attack.

everyone of these want to be terrorists, wanted to conduct a terrorist attack, they just lacked the means and the know how.

They were not someone just walking by in the street, that is a myth.

it is the intent of the heart, where the crime starts.

These guys lacked the means to get to first base with any terrorism plot, but in their heart they had already committed terrorism.
The FBI just gave them a little help to get to first base with the lady, err. I mean plot.

Ever wonder why the FBI has not approached you to do stupidity and carnage? Maybe it is because they would be wasting their time to try to convince you to do something you would NEVER do.
