can you name a modern president who wasn't a career politician or at least had political experience? he has no chance to be president. he is just the latest republican fad.

Well, I would support him because he makes sense.
Then so does Christie and apparently he's not so high up on the lists of some conservatives.
I wouldn't tie Carson up with Bush.
Christie/Carson would be a great combination.
Still Christie/Rubio would be an even better combination, and if Christie ever made it out of the primaries, I hope he'd have the sense to pick Rubio as his partner.

Probably why we should consider people out of the political culture that is incestuous and full of corruption. If everyone was term limited to 6 years we would see a lot of fresh new ideas and responsible behavior emerge out of our government. No reelections. Everyone gets six years to get the job done and then they move on. Stagger elections so that every other year we are voting on president, then in two years Congressmen, then in two years Senators. Supreme Court justices should get ten years and then done. Make it illegal for anyone serving in those offices to later have a career in any lobbyist capacity after they've served. It would eliminate a lot of corruption and cronyism.

the only problem with all this pipe dream nonsense is that the people affected by these proposed changes are the same people who are needed to enact. do you really think that congress will vote to limit their own careers, limit their own financial prospects and 50 states to ratify constitutional changes to elections? you really need to be more realistic with something like campaign finance reform.

I didn't say it would happen, but that's what needs to happen. You really believe in campaign finance reform? They're never going to change that either.

Not ready to jump on the Dr Carson bandwagon. He's riding a wave of support because he's a successful black man who criticized Obama to his face in front of a large audience. Not sure why that suddenly makes him qualified or ready to run for the Presidency.

N David, listen to some of things he's saying. He's at least interesting to consider. 2016 is a long way off. That's like 100 political lifetimes.

He's said some good things, however, he also made a statement about gun control that takes him out of any consideration I'd have of him as President.
http://bit.ly/WB81aG
When asked if people should be allowed to have semi-automatic weapons, Carson said, "It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I'm afraid that that semi-auto weapon is going to fall into the wrong hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it. However, if you live 'out in the country somewhere by yourself' and want to own a semi-auto weapon, i've got no problem with that."
So the 2nd Amendment should be based on location?
Sorry, not jumping on board the Carson bandwagon.
Too many made the mistake of voting for Obama without knowing his politics. He was an outsider that said the right things and made a bunch of promises, and look where it's taken us.
