I'm just walking out the door and won't be able to view the debate until later.

Still voting for Gov. Perry in the primary. Till the last Hoorah! I'm not a flip-flopper.

Re: CNN Debate Tonight

Thought Gov. Perry did really well.

Ari Fleischer is voicing my exact thoughts and feelings on this election cycle!!

Ari Fleischer CNN : "I don't understand this election at all, Republicans always go for the most Conservative guy running, in this case Rick Perry, I mean he has been throwing them red meat, but for whatever strange reason, this election they seem to be drawn to the most un-Republican guys running, like Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, and I don't think that plays to their strength, I think it plays to Obama's strength, and i think the White House is loving it."

saying congress should work part time and have their salary cut in half is not redmeat, it's looney. how does he plan to accomplish that?

bachman called perry naive for thinking pakistan would favor american interests and base our aid on their loyalty. pakistan has our back against the wall. a nuclear nation surrounded by terrorists, we have no choice but to support. perry reminds america of all the texas hubris of gwb. we have had enough of texas to last us a few decades, u can keep him. even if he were to win the nomination, obama would trounce him more than romney or gingrich.

There are ten states that have full-time and full-pay legislatures, like the US Congress - California, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida, Ohio, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Wisconsin. You tell me which of these states have an overall good combined economic and fiscal picture? A few bright spots, but overall, no.

You're GWB comparison is a CNN talking point. Whatever.

I don't have one problem with Perry resetting and zeroing out Pakistan's foreign aid. Let them earn it. We are never going to win in Afghanistan as long as Pakistan serves as a sanctuary city and a training ground for terrorists. If resetting and zeroing out their foreign aid drives them to China, we can strengthen our ties with nuclear India and then China can let that be their problem. I'm not in favor of being held hostage and blackmailed by a nuclear state like Pakistan. We have more powerful nuclear weapons than Pakistan and shouldn't be intimidated by them. Some of the information is certainly classified and is why Perry said (on Fox News Center Seat), at the end game, he didn't know what type of aid we would afford them, but he would start at zero like every other nation.

I would say that Pakistan is actually run by the terrorists. I would also support cutting the Congressional pay and benefits package. They have a parachute hand crafted of the finest platinum.

Re: CNN Debate Tonight

my point about the part time congress and half pay is, how is he supposed to accomplish that? congress would have to pass the law halving their own pay and time. for perry to even suggest it is looney.

i agree pakistan is blackmailing us, but turn it over to china? what does china care if terrorists get nuclear bombs. terrorists are not threatening china but the great satan. we have to be committed to friendly factions. perry trying to be "texas tough" like gwb is naive and goofy.

It was the intent of our Founding Fathers that we would have a part-time Legislature. The Founding Fathers wanted Legislators to maintain employment and to be accessible, the majority of the time, in the district.

A President, of course, cannot change the law on congressional term limits or lifetime appointments. What he can do is bring up the issue and encourage the America people to find and seek out ways to get the reforms and changes made. These reforms would require Constitutional amendment and, yes, are hard to get done. But, it is something that can gain momentum.

It is courageous, IMO, to bring up the reform suggestions and certainly not the first time it has been done. (See link below)

It is on the same lines as Ron Paul talking about investigating the Federal Reserve - for years! - and gaining momentum.

I believe we are at the point in American history where these reforms can take place. Someone needs to be bold enough to put themselves on the line for it. I'm glad Gov. Perry is not afraid to go big with it.

It's important while evaluating our candidates not only to look at their performance on the campaign trail, but to also look at the governing trends they are presenting us in regard to public policy.

I would be more inclined to look closely at someone who is not trying to hand me more policies expanding the federal government into my life, but someone who is offering me an option of having confidence in my choice as an American to choose my own destiny.

Governor Perry sees these issues as long overdue and necessary. He is not offering "more of the same". I am thankful that the Republican Party has a nominee with a plan to move America forward, ensuring prosperity for generations to come.

I never said a word about turning anything over to China. I am assuming in the conversation, some would be afraid that Pakistan would find an alliance with China, if we stripped them of foreign aid. And, yes, we do need to be committed to "friendly" factions, but you sure can't call Pakistan a loyal and friendly faction. After all, they were hiding Bin Laden and lying about it.

I agree with Gov. Perry's comments:

Quote:
"Ronald Reagan said the Soviet Union would end up on the ash heap of history. The same will happen to totalitarian communism in China if they do not become a country of virtue, and continue to brutally repress and forcibly abort their citizens. Rick Perry’s first order of business is to get our economic house in order and reduce our debt so that we can properly negotiate with China from a position of strength. Rick Perry would also immediately end U.S. foreign aid to China. A good China policy means a good Asia policy: Rick Perry will engage China with strong alliances, economic leadership, and a robust military presence in Asia. "

http://www.rickperry.org/china-policy/
And please take note of what he said in bold. Only someone that has explicit confidence in God's Word could say something like that. He understands the principle and outcome for any people. That is very telling where his heart and mind are at. Just my personal observation.

At the Family Leader Forum, last Saturday, Perry made this comment about his advice to pastors and on his receiving criticism for sponsoring, The Response, in Houston, Texas: "Don't be afraid to stand up in your pulpit and teach virtues. If you teach virtues, politics will take care of itself."
