Need Harmonica Help

Wanting to learn the harmonica.

There is a particular song with chord progression C' G' A'. It has a bluesy feel. Does anybody know what harmonica I should get?

I have no idea what to tell you. My grandfather taught me to play one when I was a child before he passed away. He made me a cassette tape of songs on one side, and his testimony on the other. I guess that's probably one of my most treasured earthly possessions.

I can still play one-- in any key... because he left his collection of harmonicas to my Dad when he passed away.... and I still get to play them--- but as for helping anyone else learn-- I don't remember much about my lessons. The first song he taught me was Amazing Grace. I was 8 yrs old when he died.

I can help, but are you sure you've got the right chords? Is that A a A minor? What key is the song in? Give me the information and I'll explain what you need to do...

Thanks for your response and the PM. I'm sorry I can't explain the music portion very well. I know nothing about it. Thank God I'm surrounded by amazing individuals.

I can usually pick things up on the guitar when shown but to tell some one what I'm doing........impossible.

With the help of a friend I picked up the right harmonica. I got a C-harp. Learning it will just take time and discipline, of which I have very little. Any pointers would be appreciated.

If the song is in the key of C, and you got a C harp, you'll never get that blue's sound out of it... to get a blues sound, you'll need a F harp. You can only bend the notes when your sucking on it, and you'll find with the C harp, your always blowing when a bent note would sound good. Using a F harp, when everyone else is playing in the key of C is what's called a cross harp. I recomend Lee Oscars over any other brand. They bend easier and better than the others.

thanks for the advice. The music store I went to knew nothing so they looked up some info in a book and I ended up with the C-harp.

It cost $30. What would a Oscar run $$$$ ?
