And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me "Come" unto to thee on the water.
And he said, "Come"...Then Peter walked on the water.
The thing I note is that Peter did not have faith to walk on the water without being asked to "Come".
Peter knew who he was... He was looking for the confidence in his Lord that he was capable of doing the impossible...
Then he saw first hand, that once he fell the Lord was waiting to pick him up.
Someone needs to reach out to those on the pew, not by hiding behind the pulpit and asking.
Place the phone call, take the church member out for lunch.
Bid them to come and if you have built a relationship of trust and respect.
They will step out of the pew and get to work.
Otherwise they will stay behind the out spoken members such as Peter was and we will never know.
Maybe the remaining 11 might have walked on the water and not have fallen...
The actual first step was Jesus walking on the water out to meet the 12 in the boat.
