Firstborn (some references:)

Col 1
15Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Heb 12:23
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Jer 31:9
They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Ex 4:22
And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

I'm very familar with Branham and his sermons and books. Also heard his sermon on one of the web pages. Those were very different times, were they not?

we see a ever present reality, abel (second) over cain. Isaac(second) over ishmael
jacob (second) over esau -> which is nations, (jacob was never ove his brother, but the nation of israel was over edom)

Jesus (second and last adam) over adam(first)

Right, this shows the term First Born does not mean the first one born or created. It means one that is higher in rank

What has Branham got to do with this thread? I noticed a couple of firstborn references in the bible and i just thought they were interesting...especially how God said Israel was his firstborn and then Ephraim was his firstborn. I thought they were interesting and wanted to see if others had opinions/thought/comments on "firstborn" as used in the scriptures...

I'm still sitting here wondering how Branham got into this discussion...whew!

Re: Firstborn (some references:)

Isn't trying to define "first born" a bit like Clinton trying to define "is"?
