I am so thankful to have been raised in the UPC...
After reading a book called Escape by Carolyn Jessop. She was born into the FLDS and at age 18 forced to be the 4th wife of a 50 year old man. Eight kids, sixteen years, and two more "sister wives" later she finally escapes. Yes, I am truly thankful.....

Re: I am so thankful to have been raised in the UP
I am thankful to have been raised in the UPC, in no particular order:
1. I got to be the odd man out in PE wearing sweat pants when everyone else was wearing shorts.
2. I learned to determine my position in Christ by how I felt.
3. I learned how to judge other's salvation by what they wear.
4. I learned that being out of control in church was being "in the spirit."
5. I was able to avoid all the evil trappings of playing the sports I loved, but could only play if it was in the neighborhood or at a church outing.
6. I learned to evaluate a message by the decibel of the preacher rather than the content of the message.
The list could go on and on but I got a yard to mow...in my short sleeves and short pants.

I am so thankful to have been raised in the alcoholic family I was. I was never raped!

Well I guess if we gave the UPC a metaphorical heart then I guess you could say they have a heart problem.
As for me I have been given a new heart one that doesn't have to determine if another man's servant is living right.
One that can play sports and glorify God while doing it.
One that knows I am loved for who I am in Christ not for what I do.
