When the door is opened to preventing the building of a place of worship on moral grounds, it will only be a short amount of time until Christian houses of worship are prohibited based on moral grounds.

The last thing in this world you people REALLY want is for the mosque to be banned from the vicinity of Ground Zero.

I agree, we have no room to cry if local governments start to zone churches out of commercial areas using this as a example.

Its a freedom of religion issue. The whole point of freedom is that anyone can express their viewpoint, but no one has to listen or participate. I don't see how we can say no to another religion and then turn around and cry when local city counsels say no to churches or make it near impossible to build because they are losing tax revenue. municipalities really dont like churches for what they do to their tax base.

Imam Rauf should apologize

It is Imam Rauf, and not the bipartisan majority of Americans from all walks of life who oppose the Ground Zero Mosque, who must apologize for fueling anti-American Islamic terrorism. As more information about Rauf becomes available, it is clear that he has spread the same kind of propaganda that al Qaeda uses to recruit new terrorists and is out of touch with reality when he joked about suicide bombers in front of a foreign audience.


Rauf preached from the Islamic terrorist handbook when he said, "We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non-Muslims. You may remember that the US lead sanction against Iraq lead to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been document by the United Nations.

What Rauf forgot to point out was that President Clinton debunked the myth of sanctions impacting ordinary Iraqis when he said, "If any child is without food or medicine or a roof over his or her head in Iraq, it's because he [Saddam] is claiming sanctions are doing it and sticking it to his own children."

It is an intelligent conversation and there is strong point that was made with my "Pew-jumping" statement. You DO realize that prejudice is out there, don't you? And if a mosque can be prevented from being built because people don't like muslims, a pentecostal church can be prevented just as easily.
