Racism from the Obama Administration
Shirley Sherrod, USDA Rural Development Georgia State Director
"The first time I was faced with having to help a white farmer save his farm, he took a long time talking but he was trying to show me he was superior to me. I know what he was doing, but he had come to me for help. What he didn't know while he was taking all that time trying to show me he was superior to me was, I was trying to decide just how much help I was going to give him," Sherrod said.
"I was struggling with the fact that so many black people had lost their farmland, and here I was faced with having to help a white person save their land. So I didn't give him the full force of what I could do. I did enough," Sherrod said. "So that when he, I assumed the Department of Agriculture had sent him to me, either that or the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and he needed to go back and report that I did try to help him."

Re: Racism from the Obama Administration
"So I took him to a white lawyer that had attended some of training that we had provided because Chapter 12 bankruptcy had just been enacted for the family farm. So I figured if I take him to one of them, that his own kind would take care of him."
His own kind?
If a white person had said this about a black person their would be immediate calls for their resignation...and rightly so.

Re: Racism from the Obama Administration
This is all quite interesting, however, from what I have read this isn't the Obama Administration is exhibiting racism. The statement was made by Shirley Sherrod, speaking of a personal experience. I find her statement extremely troubling and if anything it shows that she cannot take an unbiased approach and do her job as she is supposed to. I would remove her. It's disingenuous to title the thread "Racism from the Obama Administration". If someone on a church board made such an inflammatory statement, you cannot say the the entire church board or the Pastor is racist. The individual that made the statement is. I think the more appropriate title for this thread is 'Racism from Shirley Sherrod'. I have not watched the link, but, I will do so momentarily.
Okay, so I just finished watching the video; and the following things were just down right upsetting: ", I was trying to decide just how much help I was going to give him", "one of them", and "his own kind". I can understand her being troubled by as she stated "struggling with the fact that so many Black people had lost their farmland". Clearly because of her age undoubtedly she probably grew up during segregation and the Civil Rights Movement. While the United States as a whole has come a long way from that time, there are still people that can only operate and function with the mindset of that era. Shirley Sherrod based on what I viewed is one of those people. She has pacified her racial discrimination by stating what she was going through; Black farmers losing their farmland. Baron you are correct in your statement with regards to this situation being in the reverse. If we were seeing this in reverse the outcry would be that the White person had a white hood and a sheet in their closet. I think it is fair to say that based on what Ms. Sherrod said she was in favor of those thug New Black Panthers intimidating voters during this last election, since that is what Blacks have had to endure in the past. Absolutely repulsive, and nothing more that a racist bigot using their position as a means to mistreat White's based on what happened during the days of the Civil Rights Movement. I have long disliked the NAACP of today, and this is a prime example why.

Let me ask you a question or two...
Who gave her the job?
Who has said nothing and has not demanded her resignation?
She is a member of the Obama administration, and by doing nothing about it he is showing that it is okay for people in his administration to act this way.
Nothing disingenuous at all.
If the pastor didn't remove that person from the board, I would say he is a racist.

Despite the fact that she was sort of exonerated after all this, I wonder if she was white and said what she said about a black farmer and even after having shown that in the end she helped the couple, would a white person receive the same benefit of the doubt? Would the liberals say "oh that white USDA employee is no longer racist"?

Re: Racism from the Obama Administration
How long then will she have to remain in the administration before you admit their silence and lack of discipline indicates tacit approval?
